HDM Z1 Battery Replacement
#21
RE: HDM Z1 Battery Replacement
No.   My searches found factory repair required a board replacement, and they no longer have the boards. They were, for a while, offering a discount on the next model.  Based upon our experience with this model we will not be purchasing their equipment again.

I will note that after the battery replacement, it worked for a while before the fault appeared.  Think minutes, not hours.  This was prior to reassembling the unit and I was trying to determine how best to position the clear tube.  I forgot how it was positioned when I was disassembling it.  The tube being out of position may have triggered the fault.  Once triggered, I could not clear the error.  I kept searching for a solution but eventually gave up.  It is a shame because we never really used it.  I would charge it before we traveled so if my wifes' CPAP failed while on a cruise or a train she would have a backup machine.

Well, I too thought that there might be some calibration/alignment issues that could account for the error 33.  Good to know that it will be worthwhile to photograph and probably mark the parts before disassembly.  It might be that someone with the skills needs to disassemble the firmware to see if there is a calibration routine and how to implement it.  It would make sense that an overpressure warning has a set level that is machine specific.

Any calibrations might reasonably get lost if the backup battery dies.
The unit I’m thinking about purchasing (with the error 33) might be relegated to the role of compressor for a PAPR.

Anyone willing/able to take up the challenge?

There is a hole in the side of the clear plastic tube.  Take note of it's location and the direction it points as you disassemble the device.  Then again, it may not have anything to do with the fault.

If I had the skill, I’d be disassembling the firmware but alas. I doubt I’d get too far.
