RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
Almost dead, is that when the brain says to stop breathing?
Let's see, for you that happens almost once every 2 minutes. (the Central Apnea)
And pretty much your breathing is bad between almost every time you do not breath (the Mixed Apnea)
and just about every minute your breathing is significantly restricted. (the Hypopnea).
This means that you have an event that could wake you up every 35 seconds.
Maybe not almost dead but you have a VERY serious condition.

Unless you have the Medicare Advantage plan you do NOT need to be referred to a specialist. And some of the Advantage plans do not require it. If your Medicare plan is a letter plan, "F", "G" you do not require a referral.

RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
Thanks again to everyone who has helped me. I was just called to see if i can make the opening for tonight at a sleep disorder place in Frisco. I said that i would make it there for that for sure cause if not i would have had to wait until January for the test. To be honest I am kinda scared for this, i have a hard time with these mask on. I hope i can sleep and they can get some good solid information on me and my breathing. In general it scares me knowing that i have this problem as well. I want to work with these machines and mask for the love of my family but it is hard!
RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
Ask if a sleep aid can be prescribed for the test. If not, just do your best to keep your mind calm. I have similar problems sleeping for a test, and it's worse when you feel like you can't breathe and keep waking up just as you drowse off.. Good luck.

RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
Can't taking a sleep aid give off different information than it would if i was not on one during sleep? i was able to use a nasal pillow a little better than a full mask. I slept for 2 hours with the mask on and then a little later i used just oxygen and fell to sleep for 1.5 hours. I should find something out in a few days. And am I on a APAP machine i thought was CPAP?
Thanks again

(Warning: Pet peeve ahead.)
That has to do with an all-too-common misunderstanding due to poorly chosen nomenclature in the entire industry. The "C" in "CPAP" is often misunderstood as meaning "constant", but actually it means "continuous" and it should never imply "constant" or "fixed". But it's often used to mean "constant", as if APAP were not CPAP. Actually, APAP is one kind of CPAP, and bi-level PAP is another kind of CPAP. Those should really be called ACPAP and BCPAP, but it's too late in the day to hope for that sensible name change.
Some of the manufacturers compound the problem by choosing misleading names for their machines. For instance, the Resmed model "Airsense 10 CPAP" can't do APAP; APAP is the job of the more expensive "Airsense 10 Autoset". But again that just begs the question of what "C" stands for. Shame on Resmed.
IMO, the only rational nomenclature is FCPAP for fixed-pressure CPAP, ACPAP for auto-titrating CPAP, and BCPAP for bi-level CPAP. But that has no chance of catching on.
RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
Thank you Fats for the information on the different types of PAPS. Guys i for some reason slept for 6 hrs last night..it came on me fast and unfortunately i did it without the mask on..but i guess if i was to try and put the mask on it would have woke me up. Hope to get test results soon.
RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
Well I was able to get a little mask usage yesterday....might be getting better at it.
