No argument from me, just for myself, I found that using distilled because it's recommended was just a chore for me, going to the store for water. Especially so with I was recovering from back surgeries. At that time, even a gallon of water was too heavy to carry, yes seriously.

Gosh, that's no fun for sure. Hope you're feeling better. I have to admit, I usually clean my tank once a week, and in between keep a jug of the distilled next to my nightstand and just top it off every day. Sure avoids spilling all over going to the bathroom sink. Not sure why these Mfr's put the fill level to the point it will slosh out real easy. I think I must naturally walk like a drunk pirate.

Yes back issues are a bit better. I'm able to move around lots better than a few years ago. Certainly if your water is very hard, use what you think is best.
