[Health] High Blood Pressure

RE: High Blood Pressure
Hi damian0.06,
You might ask your doc to take you off of your BP medicine slowly, instead of all at once.
It's great to hear that your BP has normalized on CPAP therapy.
Good luck to you and let us know of your progress.

20mg of Benicar... I am not a Dr, but it would not concern me to stop that all at once. Beta Blockers or Water pills might lead to rebound, but the Benicar (Olmetic) will take a while to leave your system effectively automatically tapering

Do you check BP at home? It might be a really good idea to get a well rated auto BP Cuff (Omron for instance) and then check its readings at the docs with both types of cuff to make sure yours is a-ok.

Tongue Suck Technique for prevention of mouth breathing:
  • Place your tongue behind your front teeth on the roof of your mouth
  • let your tongue fill the space between the upper molars
  • gently suck to form a light vacuum

Practising during the day can help you to keep it at night

20mg of Benicar is the starting dose. It's an ACE II inhibitor.
Under your doctor's instruction is should be safe to discontinue.

RE: High Blood Pressure
I wonder if you have felt dizzy in the mornings immediately after taking off your mask? My last BP reading was quite low and lately I am having the odd bout of dizziness in the morning that vanishes quite quickly after I get up. In addition to my BP meds (Candesartan 16 mg) I also take Kyolic Aged Garlic which also lowers BP.

I do check my BP twice daily, one in the morning and one time at time at night before bed.

I don't felt any dizzy in the mornings, but if that the case with you, please go to a doctor and ask to see a heart specialist and have him or her check it out.

RE: High Blood Pressure
When I started CPAP therapy it lowered my blood pressure. But then, after awhile (sorry, I don't remember if it was weeks or months later) it went back up to where it was pre-CPAP, which was borderline high. Eventually I had to start taking meds to get it under control.

Oh wow thank you for the info, and I am 15 lbs over weight of my height BMI and I am trying to lose the weight slowly by walking an hour after dinner everyday.
