Sleep study results
I received the results of my sleep study and was sent a cpap with really no other guidance. I’m not sure if anything from my results could indicate a good pressure range to start out with?

Welcome to ApneaBoard Copperfld.  You can request a manual for your pap machine by clicking on the "CPAP Setup Manuals" link at the top of the page.

I used to have an ST (A), but have forgotten what buttons to push to access your settings in your machine.  If someone could please post those here, it would be appreciated.

I think you may want to try one night in APAP mode with settings at 4-20 during your 1st night.  This could be the best way to get an estimate of were you pressure should start at vs. using CPAP mode and guessing the 1st pressure and having to titrate from there.  Your sleep study did not mention any pressures.

Hang in there.  Hopefully we can help you figure this out in time.

I'd suggest a slight modification to the initial settings Jay51 proposes. A lot of people feel air-starved at a pressure of 4, so I'd suggest you start with a minimum of 7. Also, turn EPR on to 3. This might help with your abundance of hypopneas.

Also, before you try to sleep with the machine at night, set it up somewhere outside your bedroom during the day or evening and use it while you read, watch TV, or use your devices. This will help you get used to the new sensations.

Your profile says you've downloaded Oscar, which is great. Make sure you have an SD card in your machine and a way for your computer to read the card. Post a daily chart so we can see what's what.

Onward!

Copperfld;
As Jay51 said You can go to the black bar at the top of the page and download
or have Your machines Clinician sent to You .. It will tell You how to access the
Clinician Menu and adjust Your machine ..
I would change the lower number 4 to 7 because most adults feel air starved at
lower numbers .. With an EPR of 1 or 2 ..
Then post an OSCAR Chart so Your settings can be fine tuned ..
Good Luck with Your Treatment ..

A good baseline is something like:

Mode APAP
Min pressure 7
Max pressure 15
EPR 2 full-time
No ramp

Read the links in my signature for downloading OSCAR and formatting OSCAR charts. Put an SD card in your machine and post some charts after a few nights.

For a mask there are many choices. ResMed is a good place to start. Many begin with an F20 full-face mask, others like nasal pillows, and then there are the hybrids like F30 and F40. No science to it, so you may have to try a few to find what works.

Accessing the clinical menu for the ST-A is the same as the rest of the ResMed 10s, click and hold both Home and Dial for 5 seconds, there's the clinical menu where your therapy settings can be edited.
