Help with my results - leaks, low AHI, mouth tape
Right now I use an evora nasal pillow - I think I am coming up on 3-4 years of therapy. I tried full masks and the one I tried just didn't work for me. It wouldn't stay sealed and was uncomfortable as well (couldn't side sleep or move around). However, I have been feeling a bit more tired/depressed lately, and most recently (like a week or so) I've been having bad dry mouth... so uploaded my stats to Oscar just to check and it looks like I am having insane amounts of leaks (to my untrained eye anyways, please correct me if I am wrong). Below are some snap shots . Trying to figure out what is going on and what I can do to help this. Last night (Jul 20th) I used mouth tape and it seemed to remove all leaks, but my face hurts like heck this morning after ripping the tape off my skin (3m micropore)...so I don't see this as a long term solution =/ Anyways here are some shots. Feel free to ask me any questions I'll get you the information as best I can:

I don't know if this will help with leaks but I would suggest you turn on your EPR to FULL TIME not ramp only. You want it on during therapy.

Ill try and see if I can change that setting *edit* Adjusted it to FULL TIME, I wonder why it was on ramp only...how would this have been impacting me potentially? Why would you ever want EPR only on during ramp?

some people get more centrals with EPR full time. They use it on ramp only so it is easier to exhale while they go to sleep.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for that. It's hard for me to trust my reports. They all mostly say under 1 AHI , but then I see all these leaks, some for almost an hour, and wonder if the are even remotely correct reporting

Try again. This time don't "rip" the tape off, just gently pull it off slowly from one corner of mouth to the other. If you're unable to use tape, the alternative is a full face mask. Personally, I would try to make the tape work.

Or am I using the right one? Taping for life doesn't sound fun lol... =/ Ugh why isn't there a cure for this yet. too much money in DMEs?

I had a lot of problems with the 3M tape. Yes, it is a good product, however, in my case it ripped my skin up badly and I don’t have thin facial skin. I started using kinesiology tape that I bought on Amazon. What I like is is doesn’t leave tape residue on my face and comes off easily. Heck, for giggles I picked up a roll on Temu which is working quite well too.
Also…a little tip about tape removal, peel it off from the top. I notch each upper corner and gently peel downward.

@tierdal
For mouth tape I use both Cover-Roll Stretch tape and kinesiology tape, primarily cover-roll then occasionally kinesiology tape if my skin gets irritated, both release much easier than the 3M. Like Yipee says, fold down the corners for control during removal, peel down slowly, sometimes I even moisten the back side during removal with my toungue. |
