RE: Holiday/Vacation Usage Importance & Cleaning......
Halfasleep- Most of the mask wipes seem to be full of, to use your quote 'obsure chemicals' Which ones do you use??
I've been told by my sleep technicans that i should not be using any kind of wet or dry wipes/ cloths etc as these could leave tiny fibres (invisible to the eye) on the mask cushion which you could end up breathing in.
I asked about wet mask wipes for cleaning convinence and they told me no, just water with a little soap and rinse and leave to dry, nothing else.
Thanks for all the valuable feedback all : )
RE: Holiday/Vacation Usage Importance & Cleaning......
I started APAP (Airsense 11) 1 week prior to going on a 3 week European vacation. I had to take it all with me as my partner said I needed to since she no longer hears my snoring
I actually wanted to take it with me anyway.
My travel experience:
- As someone mentioned there is at least 1 bedside outlet. I stayed in 5 hotels of varying ages and I only had to sacrifice the bedside table lamp once in order to use the outlet.
- Used a surge protector (can find some compact ones on amazon) and did take an extension cord but I never needed it
- A backpack that had a separate compartment at the bottom for the CPAP machine came in handy (also amazon find). It allowed me to pack other items I carried on the plane into one backpack. I also used it on day trips/tours.
- I used mask wipes to wipe down my nasal pillow (P10) daily. Purdoux travel wipes made with 100%cotton.
- Packed a 3oz bottle of Ivory dish soap to do weekly clean of main hose and entire P10 mask
- Brought a spare nasal pillow just in case
- Had some mouth tape in case I needed it
I too questioned if I should take all of it with me but in the end it was not a big deal at all and better for therapy continuity.
Good luck and safe travels
