How do I read the statistics panel?

How do I read the statistics panel?
First off, I’m pretty sure I failed statistics!  I grabbed one of my own screen shots from last month.

What is the 95% and 99.5% columns mean?Specifically on the Pressure row?

What I -think- I do understand is ….

“Min” is minimum, and will always show 4.0 because that is currently the minimum start pressure on my machine.

“Med” is median right?  Half the values are above this number, half are below. This is different than average.

The 95% and 99.5% are percentiles. As for your pressure numbers, they are telling you that your pressure was at this value or lower, for 95% or 99.5% of your sleep session. The 99.5% is used to remove artifacts from the data.

As Red has noted, the definition is 95% OR LOWER, and 99.5% OR LOWER. The key is OR LOWER. For example, it does not mean that your pressure was XX for 95% of the sleep session. Critical difference.

FWIW, I too failed statistics. Professor let me slide with a D so I could graduate.

Thanks so much for explaining this! I originally thought the 95% figure was where the pressure was 95% off the time, which is obviously WAY wrong!

Now I’m going to forget all this and go play frisbee on the quad just like I did the first time I was supposed to have learned all this statistics mumbo jumbo.

The problem being solved here is that the accurate label is "95th%tile" and the only way to fit all of those characters in that little space would be a really teeny tiny type!

The chart is very tightly packed, with huge amounts of information. Labeling is a non-trivial problem!
