How do I stop this rainout?!?! Please help
I haven't had rain out for years, ever since I got heated tubing. Now all of a sudden its constant. Ive always used automated but this week I turned it on max tempature just to try and get it to stop. It helped but I am still waking up every few hours with droplets running down my face from my nasal pilow. Why is this happening !?

Have you tried a different known good heated tube?
Is the room temperature significantly cooler than previously? I have recently put a hose cover on my heated tube not for rain out but for comfort of warm air. Have you tried a hose cover?

Here is a good read from ResMed on humidity and avoiding rainout.

Is your room cooler than the last couple of years? Do you have a hose cover installed? What have you tried to troubleshoot this situation?

I used the Snuggle Skins fleece CPAP tube cover on my wife's and my tubing. We have heated tubes, but this is a longer, softer cover and makes things more comfortable and does cover the tube extension on the Airfit P10. For settings, in manual mode, a setting of 4 or 5 with tube temperature at 80 F (27 C) will maintain dry tubing.

I use a hose lifter I bought from Amazon a couple of years ago. It is called North American Health and Wellness CPAP Hose Holder. It costs $17 and it works well. There are lots of others, some lots more expensive. They lift your hose up higher than your head, thus eliminating rainout. I still use a heated hose as I don't like cold air blowing into my nose.
Here's hoping that you get this solved very quickly.

Would bet either your heated tube has failed or the connecting ring on the back of the machine.
First to try would be known good or new heated tube. Assuming you have one to try that is... otherwise I'd use a laser thermometer aimed at the tube off and record the temperature then turn it on and let it heat a while (like 15 minutes) ... and wear the facemask while doing this or the max velocity air from a leak (you not present) will cool the tube off. Then take the temp, if it is unchanged the tube is bad and needs to be replaced. If you have checked that and are thinking it might be the connecting collar on the machine I can remove power and ohm out the 3 pins in there. I assume one is a ground, one a power, and the last the wire from the humidty sensor. No idea what they will be but probably not zero and enough to find an open. If you are out of warranty they collar can be replaced cheap - find my prior post where I told someone where to get one. Note - for above I am assuming the autoset 10 and the aircuve 10 use the same heating/hose circuit.

Rainout
Make sure it is rainout and not carryover blown from the humidifier
Rainout is the condensation of humidity on the walls of the hose and mask. This occurs because the cooler walls condenses the water out of the humid air in the tube. It is controlled by stopping this process.

This is a picture of my setup. It doesn't feel like the water could go up that high?
The hose feels warm when I touch it. I set it to max heat. My room is the same temperature it's always been. I have it on auto humidity setting The water is just all over the white portion I basically have to the it off and spin it around to get all the water out halfway through the night. |
