How to Interpret SleepyHead Information

How to Interpret SleepyHead Information
Ok, so I'm a techie geek and was a bit overwhelmed by the amount of information I got out of my first Sleephead download. I've been trying to look things up, but with nothing to really compare against, I don't know what's "good" and what isn't. My 4th day of therapy was last night and appears to be the best one of the bunch and produced the numbers below. Is there anything that I should be looking at in particular? The one thing I noticed is that when I first go to bed, or when I wake and set the machine back on ramp is when I have most of my events. I may try to shorten it, or bump the pressure up. My ramp is 30 minutes of 10/5 working up into my 16/11. Also I wasn't sure if my leak rate was anything that I needed to worry about. I'm using a nasal pillow and the leaks are moving down a bit night over night. Opening my mouth isn't very comfortable at my pressures, so I think I'm (as my wife would say, finally) learning to shut my mouth. Smile

RE: How to Interpret SleepyHead Information
Since you're only in day 4, my recommendation is to sit back and enjoy the CPAP and don't bother with numbers until you have a month of data. Your body and mind are going to have to get use to your new sleeping arrangement. However your data looks very good. At this point in your treatment, the CA's are probably pressure induced and nothing to worry about.

Good Luck!

RE: How to Interpret SleepyHead Information
Hi Slothy
Ramp start at lower pressure and gradually reach therapy pressure so you get ample time to fall asleep
As you get used to therapy, you find won't be needed or maybe just for a shorter time perhaps
AHI and leak looks good, 7 hours using the machine is excellent results especially since you've been using the machine only for few days

AHI mostly clear airways events, more pressure does not helps with clear airways, more likely might make them worse
The machine don't know whether you're awake or asleep when scoring those events, in time, they will subside

Keep in mind, it takes a while for most people to get comfortable using the machine and having a mask strapped on their faces all night every night. Be very patient with yourself, good luck

RE: How to Interpret SleepyHead Information
Thanks for the replies. It's not so much that I've been worried about the numbers so much. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't have some sort of leak problem that was throwing off the numbers that I should be looking to resolve. My AHI was in the 50's before I had a septoplasty and turbinate reduction, and was unfortunately still in the high 40's after, so I was pleasantly surprised that my AHI numbers looked as good as they did! Every day, I guess as I get more used to the machine, my numbers improve. I was really dreading having a machine, but so far so good!

It's been great having this board here to be able to read about what people are going through and get some advice. I really appreciate everyone sharing!
