RE: How to make distilled water for free
Thanks for the info. Is once a week good for the vinegar bath?

That's my schedule. If you do not use the humidifier, the hose can go longer.

The vinegar solution just to clean the the water tank if got any deposits build-up and not to be used to clean hoses or masks.

Is there a problem using the vineger on the mask and hose?

Beside the vinegary smell its not recommended by manufactures as it may cause damage and reduce the life of the product

Wow, I just read the thread for cleaning day and it seems everyone has a different opinion. I guess for now I will just wash the hose and mask with Dawn and use the vineger bath on the humidifier.

Thanks for all the input.

I disagree on the vinegar use but that's fine. Yes, we all have different methods. I cannot tolerate the soap smell so I use vinegar. After the stuff is dry, I no longer smell it. Not so with soap.

I don't see how vinegar could damage equipment. Perhaps it is the recommendation because folks use too strong a solution.

Technically vinegar is an acid. In theory at strong enough concentration I suppose you could damage parts, BUT, in truth you would probably have to boil the vinegar with the parts in it so that the vinegar is more acidic for that to happen. Bottom line I use about a teaspoon or two in my humidifier with the rest filled with water. A sink full, probably a quarter cup, maybe half a cup. The acidic properties at those levels would likely not hurt a thing, I would think! Just my opinion though!
As always, YMMV! You do not have to agree or disagree, I am not a professional so my mental meanderings are simply recollections of things from my own life.

That's about what I use. I figure it if is good enough to clean out my fish tank stuff, it's good enough for me.
