Yes, that's sounds right. I need to dig out my ResMed manual and study it.

Start Pressure is the pressure the Ramp starts at and can be increased in increments of .2cm.

There are many opinions on how frequently the water i the humidifier needs to be replaced, how often the chamber shoild be drained, and how often it should be cleaned. It depends on the source/type of water and the bacteria in your environment. If you use tap water and it is hard water you will need to change the water frequently (probably daily) and clean the chamber weekly or more often to prevent the buildup of mineral deposits.  If you use distilled water you will need to change the water and clean the chamber less frequently unless you see slime buildup in the chamber (often pink colored). I use distilled water and just top off the chamber daily. I completely drain and refill the chamber every week or two. I occasionally wash it with detergent. I never see any evidence of microbial growth (I'm a microbiologist and know what to look for.).  So there is no single correct answer. If it's a concern, it's probably best to empty the chamber and refill it daily since it takes little time.  If you do that, there is no advantage to using distilled water.

thank you. Yes I use distill water here. When back to China, I will let her use drinking bottle water.

What is "top off  the chamber"? Do you mean take the water tanker out of device in the morning and put it back when use?

"Top off" means to add water to the existing water left over from the night before, adding enough to bring it back up to the fill line. (I would do this right before bedtime)

Yes, it would also be helpful to have a better description of how or what she is experiencing when she says she is "uncomfortable."

The most common thing we hear is being starved for air, so that is what we'll usually assume when we see someone on a minimum setting of 4 or 5.

But if she is as petite as I suspect she is, being starved for air may not be her problem.

she is 5 feet, 131 lb.. She definitely wear petite size clothes. But do you still think she is petite in this category?

Hi Kiwii, there is a good point you mentioned that ramp happens everytime when mom gets up , do you mean if she took off the mask in the middle of night, the pressure will start all over again and ramp up?  will this disturb her if she try to fall back sleep? would you please help me understand the logic and set ramp right for her.
thank you so much

RE: How to overcome if you breath with mouth and nose same time when wear mask
Update:
4/8/2018 I changed  her start pressure to 6, min-max to 8-15, Auto ramp.

her usage hour is 3:55, with 2 masks off, AHI is 2.8.

So I will keep monitoring for a few days.

But would you please let me know

1. what is the difference between resmed cpap mode, autoset mode and autoset for her mode (sorry I try to understand them correctly).

2. Also with all the graph detail, which are the primary stats  you pay attention to and you would reorder them together to get a better look.

3. And what would you suggest to let mom use the device longer hours at night (she does need to go bathroom couple times at night)?

4. Also will "Elevate the head of your bed by four to six inches, or elevate your body from the waist up by using a foam wedge or special cervical pillow." will make things worse or better? She did use some memory form neck pillow at head.

thank you so much.

ok, so you don't need to take the water tank out of the device and just keep it there until you need to fill in water. Mom said some heat from the tank thus she took it out daily.

Quote:i did see the mode could choose : cpap, autoset, auto set for her. She is using autoset for her now.
I have change her start pressure to 6, min-max to 8-15. Ramp not sure what to set

I would set the Ramp to Auto. Right after that in the clinical menu is a setting called Ramp Start. That is the pressure that the ramp starts at. Set it at 6 cm. It will sit at 6 cm until it detects sleep and then will ramp from 6 cm to 8 cm over two minutes. I use it, and find it works very well.

1. CPAP mode is a fixed pressure mode. You would have to choose one single pressure to use rather than a range of 8 to 15. I would advise against using it. Once things are settled out a bit and you see what you are getting with the revised pressure settings, which I believe you now have correct, you could try the Autoset Mode instead of the Autoset for Her mode. Hard to predict if it will be better or worse. Just try it and see. The difference could be subtle, but some of your previous posted screen shots indicate there may be some benefit in using the Autset mode.

2. I posted my daily detail screenshot below. These are the variables that I like to look at with the AirSense 10. The Mask Pressure and Flow Rate look like garbage, but have some interesting detail when you expand out the time scale. To maximize the detail that is visible make sure you maximize SleepyHead to full screen when you are setting up the graphs to show, and before you do the F12 screen capture.

3. I think the first thing is to get the pressures right so she feels more comfortable. Next you might want to think about alternatives for a mask. But one step at a time.
