RE: How to overcome if you breath with mouth and nose same time when wear mask
A strap helps with mouth leaks but doesn't prevent the chin from dropping down to the chest. A cervical collar will prevent the chin from dropping. You want a collar that isn't too high that it pushes the jaw up. Rather you want one a little shorter that you can slide up under the chin and still stay a little loose. If you find a pillow that will stay in position that would also work. I believe it would be a lot more comfortable than to keep increasing the pressure.

The pressure stayed the same because you have the maximum set at 15 cm. The good news is that all of the events are OA and can be helped with more pressure. The bad news is that she needs more pressure. I would increase the max pressure to 17 and see if that helps. As far as not being able to handle the pressure, you may have to try a different type of mask. My wife uses a Mirage FX mask, which is not full, but covers the whole nose. She seems to be able to handle the higher pressures with it. The neck collar as others have suggested may help too. I don't have any experience with them.
As I said before I put the AHI on a lower level because it is just a curiosity more than a help. You can really tell the same thing by looking at the Events bar. It just shows what time of night the events are happening. I don't find it any more helpful than the Events bar.
is the mask you wife use?

does she breath through mouth?
I just spoke with a collegue who use same nasal mask, he said he stopped mouth breath and snore after using the mask, i am thinking should i try this also. As she has been complaining full mask with pressure.

Yes, that one is correct. She says she used to mouth breathe but learned not to. She is on her third cushion after 3 years. Last one was not long ago, so about 1.5 years per cushion.

thank you Ron.
1. how does she learn not to mouth breath
2. So many mask options even nasal type, how do you decide choose this one?
3. Did she need to use full mask at first as doctor require or more like personal choice?
4. I am in a situation can't keep trying different brand/type of masks out of own pocket cost.
5. Does the mask leak easily?
Don't know what to prioritize now:
a. change to nasal mask
b. change different pressure with full mask
c. Find out why she keep having certain high OA and try with soft collar (which could be hard to acceptable for her to sleep)

I would try the higher pressure first with the F20 mask, to see if it is effective. Next I would try the collars to see if that helps. Then you will know what pressures you are dealing with and perhaps can make a better choice. I find the P10 works up to about 15 cm and about there I need the chin strap to help keep my mouth close. My wife uses the Mirage FX up to 15 cm and seems to have learned how to keep her mouth closed. I haven't.

HI Opal,
I just use this thread to respond about kid pillow.
I went to walmart today as don't have kid store nearby, i found one measure 9 inch widest left to right , 8.5 inch top to bottom. Does yours smaller than this or about the same?
I tried myself but seems little loose, not sure how it feels when toss around on bed and could come out.
I will try tonight myself.
I am taking a break today and not let her try anything.
thank you

The AHI graph is not that important to see, as we can see the AHI and breakdown of AHI on the left sidebar. Also, the events graphs shows each event, the time it occurred and what the pressure was at the time. Also, look at the flow graphs, the colored flags match up with the events listed on the left sidebar and the events graph.
Look at the events graph starting at approximately 23:40, there are a cluster of obstructive events.
I wonder if your mom rolled over onto her back during that time. This is when “chin tucking”
occurs and causes obstructives and the use of a “soft” cervical collar would help prevent that.
I know your mom said she side sleeps, but it’s really not possible to know that unless someone is watching her every minute of sleep.

I tried myself but seems little loose, So i used last night, looks like it came out quickly and can't tuck tight around neck whole night. Is it because still too big?
thank you
RE: How to overcome if you breath with mouth and nose same time when wear mask
The neck pillow I have is smaller. I'm not saying it will work for your mom, but since she can't tolerate the cervical collar going around the back of her neck, this is just another option.
If she moves around a lot, it may not work out. It's like anything else, whether trying out a mask, collar or chin strap, we are all different.
How soon does your mom leave for China? I'm hoping there is someone there that is able to help her with all of this, maybe a friend or another relative?
