[Health] No CPAP During Sinus Surgery Recovery

RE: No CPAP During Sinus Surgery Recovery

I saw a specialist who deals solely with ear issues and balance. He said the sinus surgery won't help with the dizziness, so I'm putting off the surgery indefinitely. Besides, I'd get a second opinion even if I were to proceed and I doubt surgery would be recommended. But you never know.

Quote:If you haven't already had the surgery, consider this: you went without your cpap machine for how long, after diagnosis and while waiting for sleep studies and a machine to be assigned to you? Is a week without cpap now so totally inconceivable? Mightn't you be sleeping in a lounge chair anyway, for the drainage from the surgery? [For me, sleeping sitting up means I'm totally clogged and can't use my cpap anyway.]

My thoughts exactly on the week of no CPAP. I've even pondered getting a dental appliance for that week!

The surgeon said I could sleep lying down or sitting up, whichever I preferred.

This is very different from what I had to do 15-20 years ago when I had three other endoscopic sinus surgeries. I had packing and had to sleep in a recliner. Now there's no packing, so I'm guessing they're using lasers instead of knives. I was in such shock when the surgeon told me the news that I didn't have the presence of mind to ask about details like this. Perhaps I'll email her.
