Update:  The RT from my DME came by yesterday and picked up the Philips Respironics Trilogy Evo ventilator and dropped off a Lowenstein Luisa ventilator.  She said more and more Dr.'s were complaining to them that the reports from the Evo's were skewed, and she has had trouble with the customer service at Philips servicing some Evo's.  

Last night was the 1st night with it.  I didn't sleep that well, but I didn't set off any alarms (small victory).  RT left the timing settings at factory default.  I found the Lowenstein Luisa manual online last night.  I briefly glanced at it.  I plan on looking at it closer to see all the timing controls it has and try to figure out how to adjust them for more comfortable sleep.  With the Evo, it was a quick burst of pressure support and then quick drop back down to Epap which worked fine for me and was comfortable.  Last night, it seemed like it would stay at IPAP for almost a full second (I wanted to exhale about 1/2 seconds or 3/4 of a second faster than it would let me).  It showed my breathing waveforms on the screen also.  They looked "square-wave-ish" last night with a smaller peak for the 1st peak on the left hand side top of the wave, and a larger 2nd peak at the right side end of the top of the wave.  Felt like the pressure support peaked very slowly and not enough, and that triggered a little bit larger spontaneous breath right after that (formed the square wave pattern).  

I will plan on reviewing the Lowenstein Luisa eventually after I have trialed it more.

Curious, was that a recall pickup or doctor changed things up? Dave woulda required ResMed Astral.

It was not a recall Dave.  This DME decided to take all of their Evo's out of patient's hands early RT said.  Not required to do it yet, but they saw the writing on the wall and acted early (complaints started piling up).  I like that.  

My RT has 2 different tracts for her respiratory (and overlap with sleep apnea) patients she said.  The 1st tract that she attempts is to trial the Resmed Astral (which I tried and couldn't use because I set off too many alarms).  In her 2nd tract, she then moved people like me who couldn't tolerate the Astral over to the Evo (which now she will switch over to the Lowenstein Luisa).  

I am sure the Astral would have worked for you Dave, but I am curious if your breathing would have set off some alarms, too?  On the Astral, the volume of the alarms can only be turned down to a 1 and not completely off, so that rendered it unusable for me personally.  I guess I could have tried putting it in a closet or different room with a really long hose to stop the alarm noise. Or some large blanket, etc. over the front of it to muffle the noise.  

If my memory serves me correctly, you get the VAUTO this week.

OK copy on the alarm thing. Yes scheduled to get VAuto Thursday. This doctor from Johns Hopkins seems much more involved in listening to me and changing things up if needed.
