I've pretty much decided on the F30i too. Not available quite yet here though so maybe in a couple of weeks.

Please let us know how it goes...

another alternative is the amara view hybrid mask

seals around mouth, underneath nose.

i have been using for two years now, can sleep on my side and if I position my pillow correctly, even on my stomach.

I am a bit worried about the collection of masks growing in my bedroom! I have a Resmed Airfit N30i which won't be used because even after trying to convince myself that I can learn to not breathe through my mouth ..... it is NOT going to happen. So then I bought a Phillips Dreamwear Full Face mask. I have tried both the small and medium masks that came with it and despite getting a good fit when I first put it on, I am getting major leaks through the night. I will try to preserve a bit more with maybe the MW mask and positioning the straps differently before I invest in the Resmed Airfit F30 though I am a bit worried about the tube at the front instead of on top of the head.
Didn't realise this would be so hard or that a good mask is absolutely critical.

My friend, your Mask Graveyard is just beginning. We all have one and many of them are sights to behold.

One day we will turn on that hoarders show and we will witness one of us displaying our horrors to the world.

The Dreamwear full is my favorite. No leaks plus ahi is always under 1.0 for a 7-8 hr. Night.

Mouth breathing was a big problem for me at first, but I just keep at nose breathing and now it's not a problem at all. Nose breathing should just become natural. You will also create much more SP02 into your blood from nose breathing. Humans are designed to nose breath.

With me, it would wake me up and my mouth was like a desert. I would get up for a sip of water. That got old fast and I just started moving my tongue around to develop saliva, stay in bed and go back to sleep. Couple weeks maybe and the mouth breathing all but stopped.

I'd rate mouth breathing way up there with CPAP tortures to overcome.

I tried the chinstrap for maybe 2 nights and with the CPAP gear and the Strap on top of it was something out of a nightmare.

One thing about full face is the humidification setting can positively affect the mouth, nose and throat, which, all can become dry and feel raw.

Just keep at it and you will overcome/adapt.

Try a F20 AirTouch. Sooo Much nicer than silicone. At least for me.

My F30 AirFit mask does make it a bit easier for me to nose breathe. I've tried to make the switch from mouth breathing to nose breathing. So far, it hasn't be successful.  Rolleyes

I also just switched from a nasal to a full face. I am using the Resmed Mirage Quattro. I tried a Respironics Dreamwear mask, but as I roll around, I found it leaked incessantly. The hard shell of the Quattro has minimized the leakage.  I have noted an in crease in my AHI numbers relative to the old nasal / chin strap setup.

RE: I'm finally ready to try a full face mask
I have been trying to go from a N30i to full face mask as I get mouth leakage even with chin strap.  In 5 night of trials I had the following results in AHI change: N30i -2.59 ; Airfit F30i - 11.37; Airtough F20 -9.79; Airfit F30 -24.12.  All of the full face masks fit well, were comfortable and had no leakage but had a significantly higher obstructive apnea reading from my normal less than 0.05 with the N30i.  The mask setting was changed to full face.

Wondered if others have had this type of result when using a full face mask.

No, my AHI goes down when I use an FFM. This is attributed to the reduction in mouth breathing errors. You probably need to look at your data in OSCAR. I'm guessing that you will see large leaks which can skew your results.
