RE: New CPAP user: help
I've got a similar problem in needing to clear my throat, etc. I've used Mucinex every night prior to going to bed and it helps me. Good luck.

RE: New CPAP user: help
I finally got a few hours sleep with the CPAP but the pressure ramps up so high (12) that it feels like someone is blowing a leaf blower in my face. When it does it before I fall asleep, I can t fall asleep and it wakes me up if asleep. My only solution so far has been to shut it off, and then turn it on to start low again.
I wake up with so much sinus pressure and ear pressure that I get bouts of vertigo and feel like an over inflated balloon. I called the ResMed people and they said that they can change the pressure without a doctor's order but I can't get a call back nor email from my pulmonologist. I didn't use it last night so that I could get some uninterrupted sleep and feel a bit better today. Any more advice would be greatly appreciated.

RE: New CPAP user: help
How about getting an ENT specialist involved for the vertigo.
Rule out inner ear problems. Admin Note:

RE: New CPAP user: help
Thanks justMongo. I have done that and have had vertigo for years, but I know what triggers it and this has triggered it quite a bit.

RE: New CPAP user: help
I have terrible allergies to dust, pollen, and so on. Not that big a deal without cpap, but I was really worried about all that extra air (with all the extra allergens) being blown into my nose/lungs. I got a really expensive HEPA filter for my bedroom, and have had no problems with my allergies in 8 days of cpap use. I got the HEPA filter in anticipation of getting the cpap, so I never actually tried it without having very clean air, but given what can happen to me when I'm outside on a windy day, I'm not trying the experiment of a night without the filter!
