Is remote manipulation of CPAP data, like AHI, possible?
Trying not to sound paranoid here but…I had a disagreement with my Sleep specialist today re: whether a medication increase would cause increased respiratory events - the requested dosage did not change my AHI in the recent past. I ended up by deciding to seek services elsewhere.
Then, I tried to take a nap today for 2 hours. My AHI was 14.6!! I don’t think I’ve ever had an AHI that high. And, I didn’t sleep at all.
My questions are:
Is this even possible as a natural event?
Does anyone know if a person with access can remotely change that data?
In the USA, who would potentially have that access - doctor, nursing staff, medical device supplier?
Thanks.
RE: Is remote manipulation of CPAP data, like AHI, possible?
You should post OSCAR charts so we can see if we see what the problem is. BUT an increase like that would most likely be positional apne. In other words you slept in a position where you cut off your airway.
Again OSCAR charts and we would be sure. It is a completely free download- like everything on this site.

Your settings can be changed remotely but I don't believe the data can be changed. If you didn't sleep at all the AHi is probably meaningless.
Download OSCAR

Possible yes, it's extremely difficult with several illegal steps along the way.
Hack into the ResMed "phone home" server.
Hack code on that server allowing you to download data onto a class 2 medical device. Hack the code for your devices firmware. Force an install of that software.
Manufacture the precise data you want to add to your CPAP. Load that data onto your CPAP. All of which is illegal, requires a ton of knowledge, and time to do with rather fire consequences when caught. To my knowledge has never been done. But it's all computers and data so yes possible.
