Leak

RE: Leak
I understand the frustration with leak.  I have been there.  I am about 1 1/2 months new to CPAP, so have relatively limited experience, but my CPAP mask trials may help.

I started my therapy with a nasal mask, but quickly discovered that I had mouth leak.  I tried a chin strap and mouth taping, but neither worked well for me.  My leak was between 50 l/m and 80 l/m on any given night.

My DME Respiratory Therapist recommended a FFM to solve the mouth leak problem.  After trying 5 different FFM, I have concluded that not all FFM are created equal.  I have tried all of the following:
  • F&P Vitera
  • Philips Dreamwear FFM
  • Philips Amara View
  • ResMed Airfit F20
  • ResMed Airfit F30i
  • ResMed Airfit F30
All of them fit differently and performed differently.  I really like the hybrid masks since the traditional FFM bothered my nose and I didn't get a great seal.  My favorites are the F30 and F30i, but after testing each for several days, my leak is absolutely the lowest with the F30.  I am now around 7 l/m with the F30.

Bottom line - I recommend trying as many masks as possible to find the right one.  My DME sent me many to try and I have ordered several with online suppliers that have a 30 day money back guarantee.

I wish you luck, as this can be very, very frustrating.

I believe this was meant for openmind, not me, as I have not posted screenshots.

Oh-jeez  If you actually read my responses on this thread, you would see that I was not looking for help.   I only responded to openmind because I thought another member's response of "keep your mouth shut or get a full face mask" was a bit cold.  I was trying to empathize.  Sheesh.  I'm really sorry I said anything at all, and won't make that mistake again.  Can we please let it go at that? Goodnight
