The higher pressure can induce centrals (clear airway) until you get used to it. As retired-guy said, they normally settle down after a while. The fact that your machine got to 10 cm is an indication that you needed a higher pressure, so the Autoset is already telling you something. Stick with it for a week or so, and see how you're feeling after that. You now have lots of options for tweaking the settings until you get it perfect, but only change one thing at a time then give it a while to stabilise before trying something else.

I didn't realise that until you mentioned it Paul that I must have, may have needed the 10 if I went up to it.
I am quite happy to get used to this for a week before I 'tweak' and then see what needs to be done. As you say, one step at a time.
Or the way I have been travelling on CPAP, one day at a time.

Hmm I cannot really comment on your apnea figures Gabby, but as others have suggested you are trying a new machine and different pressure settings and I think you need to get used to this and your suggestion to try for a week and then see how it goes is sound.

I would monitor the max and min pressure in the auto setting and then work from there....

From my technical training in fault finding, the golden rule is to always try one change at a time so you can tell whether or not what you changed has any effect. Unfortunately being an obsessive compulsive fiddler (sad isn't it), I often change more than one thing at a time......

It will be very interesting so see how you go.

Well I had my first night with my brand new S9 AutoSet.
I had it between 4-10 and an EPR of 3.
I definitely felt the 10 in the middle of the night, having only ever been used to 6 as my highest level.

My figures were not as good as they used to be but I am not concerned. I will give it one week before I start 'tweaking'.
AHI 4.88
Leaks 13.20

Clear Airway 21
Hypopnea. 6
Obstructive. 14

Does it matter that I had 21 Clear Airway events? Or 2.50.

My highest pressure 10 was reached at 3am and this is when most of the action took place.

Sorry I am not scientific like the rest of you.

I would be interested to know how some of you think I did on my first night, thanks.

Besides the figures provided; how did you "feel?" I know 1 night is far too soon to see any major changes, but am curious to know if you "felt" more rested.

I do not like to fiddle or tweak too much. I would like to give it a fair go for a week and get used to the AutoSet part of the machine.
When I do have my first tweak, I will be mindful, I hope, to only change one thing at a time.
I have been waiting this long and have realised cpap is no quick and easy fix, so I am prepared to take things one day at a time.

The girls, thanks for asking, I wish I could tell you different but so far I feel the same.
But I have high hopes. I think this AutoSet is going to really help me.
I just have to continue to be patient for a little bit longer.

Another good night on my S9 AutoSet.
My AHI was up a bit to 5.54 but my leaks came down to 6.00, which I was very happy about.

My pressure numbers were,

Min. 4.00
Med. 7.94
95%. 9.62
Max. 9.98

Do these numbers mean anything and are they any good please?

Also my clear airway Apneas were down from 21 events to 16 events.

Am I right in thinking my set pressure of 6 was not doing me very much good at all?

if you've got min @6 and using 2 or 3 epr, you're going to 4 min.

the other numbers suggest that you'd do better at a higher min.
