Hi Roger,
I personally have run the latest OSCAR 1.2.0 and its beta release in Mint 20, running in a VirtualBox VM.  I had no trouble installing, configuring, or running this release.  The key dependency is the version of the Qt libraries.  The package in the Software Manager is an older version, and IIRC was not taken from the official releases.  I think some else compiled and contributed that version.
Hope this helps.

My laptop failed a couple of days ago.  Power supply on the Motherboard.  Sad Saved the disk.   Smile
Running OSCAR 1.2.0 on a Raspberry Pi 4 with Raspberry Pi OS (Buster).  Wasn't sure it would work.  Kudos to the team!  like I'm impressed!  Up and running on a RPi4B-4GB.

If you have an HDMI TV and a keyboard and mouse, a Raspberry Pi is about the cheapest way to to get going! Big Grin

I'm glad we have at least one RaspPi user here.

Happy Dreams
I use twp Pi4's as desktops. I also run Oscar on one. they are very capable for a lot of computing situations . I am running about a dozen including some zero's and three's as data collectors and security cameras.  The Pi4 easily runs Oscar.

If one boots from SSD, the RPI4 isn't bad at all.  Running from the SD card is no where near as nice.  Finally got mine going on an SSD today.  If you buy a cheap SSD, like a 120GB, it's only is $20, which is more than good enough!
