RE: Little Olive - Therapy Adventure
will Linux load & run the viatom/wellue software "O2 Insight Pro"?

[DME Link Removed] See Supplier #40 > FAQ & Download > PC Software & Mac Apps > O2 Insight Pro

The last time I played with linux I was writing DOS, my boss ask me to check it out to see if he would understand Linux better than DOS. Unfortunately I had to report, it still required the activation of an ON/OFF switch, therefore I did not think it would help him.

It is getting close enough to July to start preparing you to take on higher pressure. It would be wise to try to raise your starting pressure up to at least 9 cmH2O preferably to 10 cmH2O as I suspect that you will have a starting pressure approximately in that range, when you go through your titration. So if you increased your starting pressure by 0.4 cmH2O every second or third day you should be at those starting pressures by the time you get in to the hospital.

It would be wise to try a constant pressure before your titration, I do not think we have tried a constant pressure on you yet. we could try that after you get acclimated to the higher pressures, Run a constant 10 cmH2O with EPR 3cmH2O.

It is late I must go for now.

RE: Little Olive - Therapy Adventure
Hi yes we tried to run the software, we tried everything, no luck. Not much thrilling  happening with my o2  most nights, I have not had a buzz at all., but looks like there are a few drops to 90.  Unsure

I am happy to increase the min pressure, Im at 7 now, so will start that tonight.   I am also happy to trial set pressure.  My only problem with higher pressures is the mask.  I can cope with more air, no problem, but so far my masks  don't seem able.  I have the correct mask for my size face, and mostly I can get a fairly good seal, but it does shift and move so I do get leaks. However, higher pressure will probably  destable the mask fit.  This problem has hijacked previous attempts to increase pressures.  But hey Im not letting that stop progress, and will keep trying.  I will keep working on changing to a better mask.

I think that mostly I am managing to keep obstructives down with positioning awareness, careful mask fitting, use of the SCC and various other small tricks in the "sleep hygiene" category, that do make a difference.   Obviously the centrals have decreased too.  Frustratingly,  I do not feel better yet. According to fitbit, I am getting twice or 3 times as much deep sleep as I did pre-therapy.  It was normal for me to get average 20 minutes deep sleep, sometimes even only 5 minutes or none.  Now I usually get an hour or more.  I also get twice as much REM which is maybe not so good, as I always had an hour or more of REM anyhow.  And I continue to wake numerous times, straight out of REM, remembering the immediate dream(s). I dream seemingly nonstop and am aware of all of them. And I also get awakened out of deep sleep and am dazed and bleary for a long time after.  So what I am saying is on the surface it appears my sleep has improved, but the number of wakes is unchanged and the increased deep sleep and extra REM and dreaming  does not result in a refreshing sleep experience.  And in the morning I just feel Ive been around the world and back in my extensive and complex dream life!  Too-funny

RE: Little Olive - Therapy Adventure
*PAP therapy does a lot to correct SpO2 drops. I worry that if you fell asleep for a nap and did not have the Pulse/Ox to alarm and or record the data for you to share. It would be as though a tree fell in the forest and no one was there, to hear it.

I can read the information you got off the phone app. But I think if you could print an O2 Insight Pro report, as well as OSCAR reports including the Pulse/Ox imported information, it will give you the best presentation to accompany you to the hospital sleep tests.

So I am going to ask for some Linus Knowledgeable Individuals (LKI) to stop by and possibly assist you in overcoming the issues you are having.

As much improved as your sleep is now, I honestly hope they get you into a machine that can address the issues you have fought all along. Then you can enjoy the rewards of a well mated machine and Hosehead.

Hang in there.

The OSCAR Oximetry Wizard is for Contec-50 series oximeters only. To import the Viatom/Wellue binary data files, you go to Data > Import Viatom/Wellue Data and select the data file.

Are you able to transfer the data file from your phone to your PC?

RE: Little Olive - Therapy Adventure
Thank you  ? .  I make sure l have the oxy monitor on anytime l may drop off, now you have scared me with falling in the forest!

Thanks for calling in Crimson Nape.  I had already  done most of it but repeated several times exactly ad instructed but nope, it just doesn't  do it.  So l waited for my geek brother in law who is visiting this weekend  and  he had a go too but did no better.  There is a glitch somewhere. We will persevere!

I got my appointment  for 3 July so am preparing my case. Looks like lm seeing the Respiratory Nurse Practitioner not the physician.   I've had a few setbacks, lm now being bothered by air in my eyes from the vents, which is stopping me raising the min pressure further.   Anyhow, hopefully l will get a better machine soon.

Hi Crimson Nape   thanks for the instructions,  sadly it just didn't work, neither l nor my geek BIL were able to do it.  And l couldn't get it onto my phone either. I just don't understand why, it's all so straightforward  but it just sticks then freezes up and l have to restart to get out.

Geek BIL says he will sort it ! ?

RE: Little Olive - Therapy Adventure
From your appointment, I would suspect they know from your recent medical history that you need a Bi-Level VAuto or ASV style PAP machine. The Three months on this machine may have been to sort out the potential Treatment-emergent central sleep apnea (TECSA). Some TECSA resolve themselves over time, therefore three months to get over those issues. The test they have you completing would eliminate any other possible source for your sleep issues and at the same time clear you for an advanced PAP device.

It would be better for the client if they would explain some of these things in advance, if that is actually the case with you.

You will be able to make an entry in the ApneaBoard Wiki for NZ healthcare procedures so the forum members will be better informed in the future.

Meanwhile I have lost this post several times, I guess it is time for a new PC, and get this post off before I loose it again.

Sleep-well

I will definitely add my nz Healthcare experiences when this is all done. I agree they don't tell me much. The independent sleep clinic I initially saw are under contract to the national health service, to provide the sleep study, basic cpap and supplies, monitoring for the 1st 3 months then ongoing occasional followups. Because only large city hospitals provide a Respiratory service. If you are a bit complex the clinic shove you off to hospital , as they did with me.
