RE: Long Machine use Sleeping Hours?
I did see your comment about your pillow.  Do you feel that it helped by removing the middle layer?

It looks like a leak woke you around 4:30 and you removed your mask.  Do you know what caused the leaking?
The positional apnea occurred when you started therapy again.  I doubt you were sleeping at that time.

Did you notice any difference in breathing with the Trigger change?

Go ahead and raise your EPAP setting to 9 along with PS of 4 which will give you that starting pressure (inspiration) of 13cm.

Let's keep it there for a few days before making any further adjustments.

Keep working on your sleeping position.

Note:  I honestly don't know what is causing your dizziness. Someone else may have an opinion. Dont-know

RE: Long Machine use Sleeping Hours?
Hello OpalRose.....

I did see your comment about your pillow.  Do you feel that it helped by removing the middle layer?  Yes it didn't prop the top of my head down so much from the Top of my head.

It looks like a leak woke you around 4:30 and you removed your mask.  Do you know what caused the leaking? No I don't. The reason I woke up is because I could not breath out of my nose very well.  I get up and splash some water on my face and hair and take a couple puffs of Aler-Flow (Costco).  Then re-harness up and try to go back to sleep (starting on my back for awhile and laying down flat and probably shifting to one side or the other.

The positional apnea occurred when you started therapy again.  I doubt you were sleeping at that time.

Did you notice any difference in breathing with the Trigger change? Not really.

Go ahead and raise your EPAP setting to 9 along with PS of 4 which will give you that starting pressure (inspiration) of 13cm.  I just went in and entered your numbers into my BIPAP machine.

Let's keep it there for a few days before making any further adjustments.  Ok

Keep working on your sleeping position. Not sure how I can do this Opal?  I am out of it and don't know how to make these position changes since I tend to prefer my Left and Right sides.  I will try to be cognizant of my throat/air angles, if I can.  I will try.

Did you notice I sent you (3) screen shots this time?  Does that help? Or would you prefer just the top 5?

Actually, except for the break in therapy, your chart isn't bad at all.

I understand it's impossible to monitor positional apnea when you're asleep.  If you were mostly on your back after your break, that is when most of the apnea occurred.  Even if on your side, you can "chin tuck" and cut off your air flow.

You probably didn't fall back asleep right away, and possibly even holding your breath.  It's easy to do when awake.  I do that myself, even turning side to side, I'll hold my breath.

If the Very High trigger setting didn't bother you, then set it back to Very High.  At least we were able to tame more CA's with that setting.  I hate asking you to switch back and forth, but unless we try different settings and gauge the effect, we won't know.

Question: Do you monitor your oxygen levels while asleep? If the dizziness continues, talk to your doctor about it.

As far as charts, just send the top five graphs.

RE: Long Machine use Sleeping Hours?
I have never thought that I was holding my breath.  I look for the air in the BIPAP to assure me that I am getting the correct amount of oxygen.

Question: Do you monitor your oxygen levels while asleep?

Tell me how would I do that?

Thank you for your patience Opal!

Top 5 only.....

RE: Long Machine use Sleeping Hours?
Checking your oxygen levels yourself is simple as wearing an overnight recording oxygen meter on your finger or wrist.

It's on the same line as when you see a doc and they place an Oxygen meter in your finger.  That only measures oxygen in the the immediate time.

Some of us use an overnight Recording oxygen meter while we sleep.  There are a few different ones compatible with OSCAR that you wear on your finger or wrist at night.  The data can be imported into OSCAR.  It's an investment around $150.00 more or less and insurance doesn't cover them.

Before doing that, I would talk to your doctor about the dizziness and if a drop in oxygen could be causing it.  A doctor can also prescribe one to use for a couple nights to check.   Just a thought.....

RE: Long Machine use Sleeping Hours?
Hello again OpalRose.....

Well last night I woke up at 3:00 again, stuffed up and could not breath well through my nose.  Or, the apneas are apparent just before getting up....rinse face and hair, mouth wash, a couple of puffs of Aler-Flo and prop up and fall back to sleep laying down.

The top graph certainly shows that the OA's are the most.

Will you look over my statistics and devise settings to see if they are all set to where we want them?

Did not wake up dizzy this morning.  See attached reading from Saturday night.....

Hope you are doing fine!

Yes, the OA's are the bulk of your apneas. Most look positional... clumped together.

When you woke up at 3:00, what sleep position were you in?

RE: Long Machine use Sleeping Hours?
So when dealing with Obstructives, the EPAP is what sprints the airway open on exhale. We can try to raise the EPAP a little at a time and see if it helps with Obstructives. My gut feeling says it may not due to the fact they look positional.

Try EPAP set at 9.4 and repost tomorrow, then we'll see if we should continue in that direction, or back off.

I'm still pondering if higher PS would help, but take one step at a time.
