Lots of Clearway apneas

This is my first time posting, so I apologize if I have done something incorrectly. but I have attached a screenshot of my oscar data and I have more clearway apeas then actual obstructive ones. Im not sure if its related but I often wake up about 5 times a night that I can remember. Any information would be helpful! Thanks in advance.

The CA events are not particularly concerning, especially if you are new to CPAP therapy. You are using auto pressure at 9.0 to 13.0 cm with no EPR. Did you have a titration to set those pressures, or is this someone's best guess? The charts are not particularly useful and we would rather see Events, Flow, Pressure, flow limits, Leaks and Snores. The link in my signature on Organizing Your Oscar Charts shows what we look for. Try to include the full duration of the night rather than just zoom on a few minutes. We may ask for zoomed charts if needed. It's really hard to judge things like arousal with out the Flow Rate, Leaks without the leak chart and so forth.

With no apparent obstruction, and moderate flow limits, I'd like to see you turn on EPR full time at setting 2. That may increase comfort, help shorten inspiration time, and improve your tidal volume.

Just noticed that you have 9-12 in your profile, but settings of 9-13 in your report.  Do you get many obstructive events if you lowered your machine's max to 12?

You mentioned that you awoke 5 times.  Just wondered if you actually remove your mask and have the machine "ramp up" again afterwards.   I wasn't sure if you have a lengthy ramp setup.  Sometimes it can make a difference too, especially if you're waking so many times.

(I'm not an expert, but I was thinking of some of the steps I went through with my perpetual CAs that, over time and adjustments, I finally managed to control. Lowering my max and eliminating leaks really did it for me.)

Okay Ill try and get those charts labeled correctly and post those. I have been using my cpap for a little over a year now. At first my settings were 4-20 pressure. And I have been playing around with different pressures for a few days. Ill try the advice that you posted and see if that helps. Ill reply with an update tomorrow

Sorry about that confusion I have been trying a few different pressures to see what is right for me. I will defeintly take your advice about lowering the pressure and seeing what happens. Also when I do wake up sometimes I will take the mask off (F20) to itch my nose and then I put it back on. But waking up alot in the night was something I dealt with before CPAP too

Welcome to Apnea Board,

The small amount of CA/Clear Airway, Central Apnea (all meaning the same) are pretty small. 1.x is well below the treated 5.0, so the goal is maximizing your comfort, then usage.

Your initial default 4-20 settings are little surprise, almost everyone gets that. Unfortunately doctors think the Auto CPAP will take care of you at default. Default takes no effort from the doc either. However it's like cars, they need tuned to run their best.
