Optimising CPAP settings
Hi, 34M, AHI 21.7, seeking some advice on how to optimise my CPAP settings.
Started CPAP in January this year, after probably at least 15 years of undiagnosed sleep apnea (I realised this while going through old photos from school days, where I often look fatigued).
After 10 months, it has made a big difference to my energy levels in the day, though there's still a bit more brain fog and getting tripped up with words. Memory has improved somewhat, but I'm not at the level where I coherently can put together big ideas and break them apart again. I've still to maintain a discipline of writing things down at work, else I often miss the details.
AHI has dropped from 2-3 to 0.2 to 0.5. Some nights it goes up to 1.0, especially if work is stressful or the sleep environment is disruptive.
I just downloaded OSCAR, and hope to see how else I can improve my recovery journey by tweaking the settings. I have a sleep therapist, who noticed that my breathing patterns suggest I've quite some tissue blockage in my airways, but he did not propose any further changes to be made to the settings.
Could I seek help:
- Deciphering my results please;
- Recommendations on how else to optimise the settings;
Also, should I expect upwards of 1-2 years for brain function to be fully recovered and restored, given the long period of time I've had sleep apnea? What has everyone's experience been?
Thank you!
