Marcin's Therapy Thread
Good morning!
I am a new user of Oskar. My mother uses Resmed for her problems with obstructice sleep apnea. After 2 months of using Resmed AirSense For Her, I decided to  import data from Resmed to Oskar. I noticed there are events which are called OA appearing on some days. AHi for this period of time was correct - between 0 and 4. What is  difficult to understand is the mentioned OA. Duration is shown 120! In Oskar it is described as " OA (120) ". Other parametres like Flow Rate are also strange that night. I attached pdf file.
This happened at 23:15. Between 23: 12 and 23:15 there is no Pressure and no Flow Rate on the picture. How should I interpret?

I very concerned about the duration of this OA. I would be grateful for your help. I can also send data set from Resmed.

Regards
Marcin

Cheyne–Stokes respiration
Good morning,
I discovered that on the report from Oskar, there is one Cheyne-Stokes episode lasting 14 minutes. This has never been before. My mother has been using Resmed For Her for 3 months.

Does anybody experienced this problem? Should I start worrying? I read this can be very dangerous.

thank you!

The "OA" means "Obstructed Airway".  This is when some part of the airway is closed off.  The event in your image is a "UA".  UA means Unclassified Apnea or Unknown Apnea.  This listing is used when the CPAP can not determine what type of apnea it is.  The numbers within the parenthesis "()" are the number in seconds that the apnea event occurred.

RE: Cheyne–Stokes respiration
Since both your posts are related to your mother's care, I am merging them into one thread.  I will leave the original title to, "Marcin's Therapy Thread"  Please use this thread for all questions.

The CSR on a Resmed is a very poor choice for terminology.  In most cases, it is periodic breathing.  The two breathing patterns are close and require a detailed review of all the data to make a determination.

Thank you. I am just wondering if this is possible that the UA lasts 2 minutes. It started at 23:15 (see the attachment) and at 23:10 the Flow Rate dropped to zero. Between 23:12 and 23:15, no red line for Pressure. Can this UA be an artifact?

It looks like she stopped therapy and restarted but it's weird to see apneas logged during the absense of the flow wave form. Have you tried deleting the data for the day and re-importing?

thank you. No, I did not upload data again. I have now added also chart concerning leaks. Leaks started at 23:10. Maybe this is connected somehow.

RE: Marcin's Therapy Thread
Some background may help you understand the data. OSCAR shows what the CPAP machine reports. So when there is an unusual sequence such as you showed, the question might be better phrased as: Why did the CPAP machine report what it did? What was happening?

The flow graph shows a "thick line" from about 23:10:40 to about 23:12:05. That is actually a series of small pressure pulses the machine is issuing as it is trying to identify the lack of breathing as an OA or a CA. The machine gives up trying to determine the cause about 23:12:05. Flow reporting resumes at 23:15.

Please post a screen shot of the Events section showing Session Start and Stop times. They may show a gap between 23:12 and 23:15.

Coupled with the flow disturbance and peak before this sequence begins, my guess is that your mother dislodged her mask about 23:10, but did not fully take it off so the machine could not conclude the mask had been removed. Then she got the mask back on correctly and the normal flow resumed. The machine labelled this as an "unidentified apnea" because it did not know what had happened. I'm sure your mother didn't stop breathing for 5 minutes!

Please see the link below this post on the best way to post charts.  We like to see complete charts for the night to provide a better perspective on what is happening.

RE: Marcin's Therapy Thread
Thank you for answeringSmile) I have a new problem with Oskar interpretation. I tried to attach 4 png. files but was not able to do this... Wink

12Jan-between 3:49 and 3:53, series of 7 central apneas, one by one. This has never happened before. Tidal Volume, Flow, Vent, Respiration Rate were zero at this time. I have noticed slight decrease of mask pressure. Can this be a reason of this accident?

1March- between 3:20 and 4:00, a lot of OA, CA, RERA. Vent, Tidal Vol, Respiration Rate drops to zero at this time. I noticed a strange movements of Mask Pressure. Is it dangerous that Respiration Rate drops to zero?

4March-between 2:10 and 2:18, series of 7 OA happened (some of them have duration of 30 sec). Flow and Respiration Rate was zero. Again is it dangerous?

6March-between 3:00 and 3:30 + between 5:00 and 5:15 Flow reduced, Tidal Vol and Vent went down. Why this happened?. I canot see any apneas, leaks, but Flow Limitation (whatever it means) went up. Could you help to understand ,explain what Flow Limitation means?

thankyou in advance for help!!
Marcin

Please post a full screenshot of that date. Press F12 or select View/Take screenshot to create the screenshot you can attach to your reply.

We really need to see the entire context to comment on the details.

A flow limitation is a restriction in the breath that is less than what would be classified as a Hypopnea.
