Moving OSCAR from old MAC book to new Mac Book
Good evening,
I appreciate your help with all of us CPAP users. I have just signed up today on the Apnea Board. I am trying to move all my OSCAR data from my old MAC Book to my new MAC book. I have the OSCAR software loaded on the new computer and created a zip file with all my OSCAR Data. I have it on my new computer on the desk top.  I don't see anything in OSCAR to upload the Data. I appreciate your help!

Have a great night,

REMRick

Hi REMRICK! - Welcome
Since you have installed OSCAR, All you need to do is to copy or move the OSCAR_Data folder for (I believe) your old Documents folder to your new Documents folder. Of course, if you zipped the OSCAR_Data directory, then just unzip it in the new Documents folder.

Hi Red.I appreciate your quick reply. So as long as I put the folder I copied under the new folder that was created when I downloaded the OSCAR software? Anything special to get the data to populate? It still comes up blank.

If you already have a OSCAR_Data folder created on the new computer, then the contents of this folder should match the old folder. If you zipped the old OSCAR_Data folder, it is easily possible that when you unzipped the archived copy, you created another OSCAR_Data folder under the main named folder.  You might want to check that.

I'm Mac challenged, so this may not be exact. If you have never run OSCAR, then it will need to have a configuration file created.  If you are sure of the integrity of the data folder, try this command from a terminal window.
OSCAR --datadir /Users/yourUSERNAME/Documents/OSCAR_Data
(note the double dashes in front of "datadir".)

See if it finds your data.

RE: Moving OSCAR from old MAC book to new Mac Book
Hi Red! I have 3 profiles on my OSCAR software on my Old computer. I have moved to my 3rd PAP machine. I tried to keep them separate with creating a profile for each. Does this complicate the entire issue? The old computer still works. I just figured it was best to just move everything over. I am not a big computer guru at all. I will try your suggestion. I appreciate your help.

Hi Red! I was able to get it moved over. I had never been inside the Terminal window before. I couldn't get that to work though. So I used the Airdrop feature moving the  Data first then the OSCAR software. The software will ask if you want to connect it to a new folder or an existing. Since I had moved my Data, I directed it to the existing. I did first delete on the files created when I first added the OSCAR software and not create a bunch of duplicates. I hope all this makes sense.

Thank you again for your help! I hope you are sleeping well!
