I think I will get a new cpap anyway. It's shocking how bad the dreamstation 2 is. No one can be that stupid much less engineers and scientist, yet they are forcing the air you will breath though 8 inches of foam, and it's crappy foam that breaks apart that has been shown to have formaldehyde in it. Not to mention the previous dreamstation 1..After seeing a video of the inner workings of the resmed I don't think it's the foam that is the problem [ even though it's bad] it's the design. If you wanted to make people sick it's a great design, but otherwise. Personally I think i should be able to sue sleep company that sold it to me, or at least get it refunded given Phillips reputation.

wait so it wasn't remediated yet?  The company that sold it to you didn't really do anything wrong since the device was approved by Health Canada or w/e it's called. Was there a class action in canada at least?

i get it, i would not use a Philips machine either. i got lucky i started after this all debacle.

No the dreamstation 2 is still out there. And I understand your point that I probably have no legal recourse.  Although it's absurd, for example if Arsenic was approved as a food supplement by health Canada and the company selling it knew it would kill the people who ate it? Did they do nothing wrong since the device was approved.  It's still murder and wrong even if the court doesn't see it that way

I think it's very easy to show that the dreamstation 2 is a faulty dangerous device, and if I know this certainly the people selling it do, yet they knowingly do this. I think it is easy to show based on the design where the air passes through 8 inches of foam in the channel the air passes through.. not sure if you can see the foam in the casing this guy has in his hands in the picture below but that is a crazy design to have the air pass through the foam.. After killing numerous people and causing cancer in thousands they should be out of the business.. and according to this article independent testing showed formaldehyde levels were much to high in the new foam, although Phillip's own in house testing showed it was ok https://newsinteractive.post-gazette.com...recall.php

And those are thresholds for normal use... Like in the resmed where there is a small amount of foam around a seal, not like the dreamstation where the entire air passage is stuffed with foam and you are literally breathing through 8 inches of foam.. Who could possibly not know this is unhealthy and dangerous?

that's the thing if they knew about it and lied to HC they should be serious consequences not a pitiful fine, and Philips knew since 2008.

Not the motor but below it. Underneath the casing where the motor is and the sound abatement foam.. The bottom shell connected to the heating part that the water base sits on, but not on the heater side, but on the side of the motor and circuit board.

Travellers have often been warned to put their luggage into the hotel bathtub until they inspect the room for bedbugs to avoid luggage infestation.

From now on, I will also be concerned about my instrument. I will never forget that I must dismantle it after my travels, which is quite problematic. The manufacturers should make it easier, considering this possibility. What about replacing their external plastic wall with a transparent one?

I have no idea where I would get a transparent plastic wall, and honestly I can't get all the dirt or poop or whatever it is out. I own an air compressor but it didn't budge the stuff and I don't want to use water on any part that has circuitry. Really I'm pretty sure I'm not even supposed to go into that part of the machine as it's not user friendly.  I think I will just get a new machine. Worse than the whole scandal for me knowing that they poisoned customers, is the design. It's so wrong I'm shocked the machine could be sold. Unless I'm mistaken about how it works? I assume air goes through the foam or else there would no reason to remove it? Having air someone breaths be pushed though layers of foam is not something I would expect from a carnival swindler, much less a maker of medical equipment.

^Thanks, but would not help they didn't come in through the hose, as that would put them in the air chamber that they were not in. They were in the casing and all over the circuit board
