New Resmed S9 with run hours
Hi, I just took delivery of what supposedly is a brand-new Resmed S9 Autoset, while looking around the menus I saw it had 311 hours on the run hours, is this normal for a brand-new machine? Is it like delivery mileage on a new car, or is this device a second hand machine?

RE: New Resmed S9 with run hours
Its not brand new machine, brand new machine has zero hours
You can erase the data but run hours is not not reset when data is erased They send you a used machine, act on it now while the iron still hot

Mine showed up with an extra few minutes on it from the day before I got it, but that many hours I'd want an explanation!!

It's not that uncommon to send a machine out as a loaner on someone to gather data (311 hours / 7 hours a night = 44 days. In the U.S., with some insurances you can set patients up with a used machine.
I would look at the serial number on the machine. The third and fourth numbers tell you the year of manufacture. If it is a "14" then I really wouldn't worry about it. If it is "13" or older, then I would ask for a new machine.

you're getting ripped off... someone made a "mistake".
if you're paying for a new machine, then they better give you a new machine, if you're paying for a lightly used machine, then that's fine, that's what you got. I bought a s9 vpap auto with 250 hours off craigslist last weekend for 450$. lightly used, good discount.

RE: New Resmed S9 with run hours
311 hours is not a big thing. It's a thing alright, but not really a big thing given the life expectancy of the machine should be something like 15-16000 hours.
You can demand a unit with zero if you feel you must. The thing is however, we are always going on about how we want to "trial" this or that and expect the DME's to accommodate our request. But when we're done, they do have to do something with the machine we trialed. Either that, or they will have to stringently not allow trials at all. So it behooves us to be a little considerate in such as this knowing that the machine we have has also been of help to someone else in their journey. But yeah I know. When we buy a new car it should say zero too.
