The home device operator, usually a family member or the patient himself, obviously differs from a better-trained, highly educated hospital specialist.

Now that there is just funny. I don't care who you are.

Anybody on this list care to speculate how much better/knowledgeable them highly edgamacated hospital specialists are at operating PAP machines than the average forum member?

And how educated were you on the use of the device before you joined the forum? Thought so. Yep, the hospital specialist was better educated on its use. in addition, and I cannot speak for US hospitals, but the specialist technicians here at the main hospital sleep labs still know way more about the ins and outs of these devices than most home users, even after a year of using their device. They regularly reprogram and refurbish devices, they know the innards well, the software, they have the means to flick with any part of it in full knowledge that they can make it a better, cleaner, working device. These guys ain't dummies. Don't denigrate them. They go to school to learn this stuff and they are not some bozos off the street. Hospital grade devices are not ideal for home use, their interfaces are designed for specialist knowledge, and their electricals for a specialised environment.

You have a valid point DocWils, I suspect we failed to consider the word "hospital" in that statement and chose to apply it to the typical DME respiration specialist.

You guys are rummaging around in the back alleys again. This thread is two years old. Which just goes to prove old news is still good news on slow news days.
