RE: New and overwhelmed
You all have been so helpful...thank you!
I know there are LOTS of pros and cons associated with buying items on CL, but I found an (allegedly) very low hour Airsense10 AutoSet. I asked for a photo of the run hours, which shows 54. It also shows the following:
SW SX567-0305
CX CX036-037-013-025-100-100-100
It comes with humidifier, hose, travel case for $325. Does this sound right?
RE: New and overwhelmed
Go to the top of the page, look for "Supplier List". They are on-line DMEs that will configure your CPAP, give you tech support, and handle warranties. Some may have used equipment at a discount.

RE: New and overwhelmed
Hi brewgirl.
You got already your answer for the technical questions, but I would like to remark the following question: used machines.
-First you will be using a machine that you don't know how clean she is. Maybe you will be breathing the worst contaminated air.
-If the budget is really tight you must think about professional cleaning of the used machine. I saw this service in eBay for about $40 bucks. I don't know how good they are cleaning.
-I was thinking too, to buy a used one until I thought about this question.
-If you can afford to buy, choose a new Philip Respironics because I have read in the forum that they got the same features of the Resmed machines but they are cheaper. About the brand and model you can ask for advise in the forum, because I am a learning newbie.
Ralph.
