New board member from Germany
Hi all
My name is Helmut and I come from Germany. Since one week I have to sleep with a machine which is pressing air through a mask into my lungs. This is still horrable to me and I feel like an almost dead man. This crazy situation is new and feels abnormal.
In order to find out how to live with this I am trying to read as many information as possible. I am also registered in a German board and learned a lot in a few days. Today I registered here because - as far as I know - this is the biggest board worldwide on this topic.
I hope that at some point I will get used to this new life as I probably have no other alternative to stay a few more years in this world.
So, I have to read a lot of stuff now.

Welcome to the board Helmut - it feels awful the first few nights but stick with it and it gets better and even becomes normal within a few months.
The benefits far outweigh the downsides, stick with it and they will come

Helmut, your Prisma 20A produces some of the best data of all the machines, and we are working to make it work with Sleepyhead software as well. If you learn to take screenshots and post your charts as attachments on the forum, we can provide very specific feedback. The issues that individuals may encounter when starting CPAP therapy are very diverse, so it is very hard to generalize what you should research. There are a number of helpful links in my signature that contain articles dealing with the most frequent questions we encounter, and some that cover a very wide variety of topics, like the Beginner's Guide to Sleepyhead, which is actually a pretty advanced and in-depth discussion.
Welcome to Apnea Board.

Hi Rob
Thank you for giving me hope. In the first week I have learned to accept the mask. Unfortunately, I wake up many times at night due to leakages of the mask. Next week I have an appointment with my provider and will try alternatives (Cara and MirageFX). I’m not sure if the product names are equal in Germany and US.
One more personal thing: I’m not a native speaker so please let me know when I’m writing nonsense.

Hi Sleeprider
As far as I know sleepyhead is not compatible to the prisma machine.
By the way - are double posts allowed in this board?
RE: New board member from Germany
I am working with JediMark and others on new versions of Sleepyhead. The Prisma was one of the machines we had almost gotten ready for the newest version, but unfortunately the person (TBMx) working on that project had to take some time-out. He had a working version of Sleepyhead for the Prisma, but disappeared after having some health problems.

Welcome, I lurk and read more than write posts. Ixve found the board a wealth of knowledge.

This sounds as if you might need something more than a regular CPAP.

What do you mean?

Hello and welcome. You are in the right place. As you get responses you will find people that you are more confident in listening to. Average responses until you get used to who is responding. The knowledge here is immense and life saving. Some things you just have to get used to and some can be adjusted, don't accept just getting used to until you know it cannot be adjusted.
For example I started with a mask that my DME started everyone on, for me it made me feel congested. Could I have gotten used to it, maybe, but I tried my current mask and it did not make me feel congested, so why get used to the old mask when the new one is perfect for me?
There are many adjustments on modern machines and there are two issues: therapy and comfort and both are important! the Therapy must be working AND you must be comfortable using the therapy.
Again willkommen. Your English is great, I tried to learn german for 6 years and know almost nothing. Language is not for my brain.
