New machine
G'Day everyone
I have been registered here for a few weeks but haven't posted much , when I registered I listed my Philips machine , I now have a new ResMed Autoset 10
I have been using it for a couple of weeks on a fixed pressure of 9 because the Philips machine was is a fixed machine .
The ResMed has a humidifier and heated tube last night I tried auto for the first time on a setting of 8-12 , cant really say I noticed any difference
I have a few masks but the main one I use is a P30i
I do use Oscar but have trouble understanding what I'm looking at can I post some Oscar screen shots for more knowledgeable ppl to have a look at and educate me
Thanks regards Jacko
RE: New machine
Welcome to Apnea Board!
Yes, you can post a Screenshot of the daily page in OSCAR.
Use the links in my signature line to guide you.
Also, it's a good idea to update your profile with new machine info.

RE: New machine
Thank you for the welcome , I have updated my profile for the new ResMed auto machine
I have been trying to post some Oscar screen shots but having difficulty . I have tried to post more than one but I don't know what Im doing wrong
Anyway this is last night , I have been using a auto setting of 8-12 for the last few nights , I have always used a fixed pressure of 9 on my other machine for years and this ResMed for a couple of weeks since I got it . I would like to post some fixed pressure shots for comparison to see what you think because like I said I don't understand some of the graphs
I hope I have posted it showing the correct info , I did have a look at the links your signature , I hope I got it right
many thanks Jacko
RE: New machine
My welcome as well,
Very good by the numbers. Only issues I'm seeing are occasional leaks, and maybe the flow limits to a degree.
A learning tidbit, ResMed and OSCAR leak charts will be a single line while Respironics are 2 lines. These ResMed's leaks are all that are calculated to be above the normal, expected leaks/airflow necessary to move air in and out of you. Also ResMed operates on having a leak redline at 24, where if you approach or pass 24, leaks overwhelm the PAP's ability to compensate.
Your 95% leak rate was 14.4 with a Max of 20.4, an area I consider taking a look at these and enacting some action to counter the leaks. I think the big negative was a blowout, which looks like a leak past the mask at time 0130. Another leak later about 6-630 appears to be at least in part mouth leaks due to some rounded shape to the leak trace, but could be mask leaks as well.
Flow limits, do you use EPR on this ResMed? You may want to if not. This is a neat trick up ResMed's sleeve. Turning on EPR makes your AutoSet a BPAP. Now if you do use EPR watch you CA events. CA is clear airway to the PAP but in reality are Central Apnea. No real worries, it's flagging times you stopped breathing with Central pattern tendency, as in no breath but clear or open airway. Your CA occur near beginning or end of sleep sessions so probably are SWJ or sleep wake junk. Just a difficult handoff from sleep to wake breath control, all of us have this a bit.

RE: New machine
Thanks Dave
I don't use EPR or ramp , I never did with the previous machine whatever it was called by Philips , I do wake up several times a night and just lay there for I dunno how at times , so maybe some of the leaks and CA's I'm actually awake , sleep wake junk as you call it .
I will try and take notice of the leaks and see if I can work out what's going on .
I have a N20 nasal mask among others , I might give that a go and see what happens
I do tape my mouth with Micropore tape , I have been doing that for years , I just cant keep my mouth shut .
What do you think of the pressure range I have set 8 -12 ?
I will post some more Oscar shots thanks for the feedback much appreciated .
regards Jacko
RE: New machine
The range is likely OK. EPR is supposed to be similar to Philips Flex, but in practice they're way different.
Consider trying EPR full time 1 just to trial it a night. No edits to pressure, just add the EPR in. Watch CA events and consider if it's more comfortable.

RE: New machine
EPR and Flex are totally different animals. Try it. You don't "NEED" it because your numbers are good, no excellent.
We use EPR therapeutically to treat hypopneas, flow limits, RERAs, and UARS within its 3 cmw limit. In other words, you now have a mini BiLevel machine.
RE: New machine
Thank you Dave and Gideon .
I will give a EPR a try tonight , last night I changed to my N20 mask with the Humidifier off , I prefer the pillows mask with the top of the head connection
I noticed on the Oscar report it said the Humidifier was set at 2 , I didn't even have it fitted I have the other fitting when the Humidifier is removed , I hope the plate wasn't heating last night ?
Here is last nights effort with the N20 mask , it is the foam one , I do have the silicon also . How does the pressure , leak compare to the other mask ?
Regards Jacko
RE: New machine
Humidifier might have been on. Can you show the left panel "Machine settings" on OSCAR? I can tell by seeing that.

RE: New machine
Yep Dave it looks like it was on bugger , I hope I haven't caused any damage
I had to refit the humidifier for it to show on the ResMed screen , I did that just a few mins ago and turned it off
I also notice now I should of changed the mask setting for Pillows to Nasal , I guess I'm learning with this new machine
Thanks Jacko
