Gosh, with results that good, I can't help to wonder what the untreated baseline was/is?

G'Day mrmagloo
Its been more than 15 years since I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and I haven't had a sleep study since , sleep doc's are thin on the ground around here where I live . I do remember I was told I stopped breathing 54 times a hour , I didn't think I even slept for a hour and had a fair bit of leg movement , I was never really given a pressure to use the Doc at the time just asked how heavy I was and said use a setting of 9 , so I have been doing it on my own , I have only discovered the Oscar program just recently When I got my first machine all those years ago , I was excited and thought beauty I will be able to get a full nights sleep at last , well I'm disappointed to say its never happened , in all that time there has only been 3 or 4 nights I haven't use it , so its not through lack of trying . I have tried many different masks there is a drawer full of old masks , I pay for everything out of pocket here and cpap gear is very expensive , I'm not complaining its just the way it is . I just hope last nights results were not a fluke a one off . Regards Jacko

RE: New machine
My story is similar. I was diagnosed in Dec of 1998 and got my first Remstar Auto in Jan of 1999. My compliance wasn't very good for the first couple of years, primarily because my doctor insisted I use a full face mask, and beyond being claustrophobic and uncomfortable, I could never stop the leaks so I was being woken up all night. He was a real turd as well, and eventually I started looking up forums and user groups to learn on my own.
The advent of discovering nasal pillows and my first Breeze was an enormous game changer. I finally could get my leaks in check, the comfort was wonderful, and my compliance and sleep quality skyrocketed. I had to buy it on my own as he refused to give me a script for one. That was the beginning of the end. As I learned more, the more I realized he was a condescending quack. But enough with that. The good news is your reports look great!

RE: New machine
Yes similar experience with my Doc except here its more you have a sleep apnea , go buy any machine and a mask you want and see how you go , see ya .
I couldn't stop mouth leaks and read about mouth tape on one of the forums and I have been doing that ever since , I tried FF masks but couldn't come to grips with them . I have bought a new FF mask just recently to try its a F30i , I will get around to trying it at some stage . What I'm using now seem to be working ok , here is last nights effort , looks ok to me .

RE: New machine
I notice looking at others Oscar charts that use the same ResMed auto I use they have 2 lines on the pressure graph , I only have one just wondering why that is
last night Oscar showed my " Time over leak red line as 0.000% " I suppose that's good but I notice when there is a % over the it still doesn't a extra line . I'm just trying to understand the different parts of the Oscar Graphs . I guess there is a lot of information in Oscar that we don't really understand or need Jacko

I’m thinking if you were using EPR EXHALE PRESSURE RELIEF you would see something else than 8

RE: New machine
Ah ok thanks , I'm not using EPR . I might give it a go just to see I don't think I really need it but its there so why not , I suppose .
RE: New machine
I will give EPR a go tonight it was suggested by Dave I try it , set it to full time setting 1 , just to see what its like .
I have just run a mask fit with the EPR set to one , I could tell the difference on the exhale , it might be interesting to see what Oscar shows in the morning I downloaded the ResMed myAir app , from what I have read its not that useful , I think it only shows what the screen on the machine shows anyway . |
