New/old user back to CPAP

Hi Guys,


I started CPAP therapy about a week ago, I purchased a Resmed Airsense 10 as I have been waiting for a NHS referral for over a year now and couldn't wait any longer.


I originally used CPAP about 8 years ago which the NHS provided, 18 months after I had lost 30 kilos and had my septum straightened with turbinate reduction and felt great , I then was lucky enough not to need the machine and handed it back.


Forward 8 years and 25 kilos later I realised that the old enemy is back and i needed some help, I set my machine up myself with help from this forum ( Thank you ) and am quickly getting used to the therapy again.


I have now setup up Oscar to look at my CPAP and o2 data, I have been doing alot of reading up to try and interpret the data but I think it will take a long time to figure out.


I started on full auto 4-20, and now am at, auto mode with min 9, no ramp, no EGR, my AHI is low but O2 and pulse seem all over the place, I have had a bad chest all week and flu like symptoms, could this cause low O2 readings?

Post a couple of Oscars so folks can see what's going on. Follow the Apneaboard standards for the charts. Impossible to tell otherwise. Folks will be here to interpret the data: you do not have to learn this to get help, but will get the knack with more experience. I wouldn't adjust the settings yourself without further help, since it sounds like the current ones may be making you unwell.

I suggest that you turn EPR on full-time, set at 3.  This will make your breathing more comfortable and will lower your flow limits.

It would be better to copy your Oscar charts by clicking the F12 button, and then making sure that we can see to the very bottom of flow limits.  At present your left panel is too wide.  I hope using F12 will correct that.

Hi Starg81234, I would lower you maximum pressure to 15cm (keep the threat of blow outs lower) and turn EPR on 1, going straight to EPR 3 is quite a leap and with the need for higher pressure for EPR to have the same apnea control as non-epr, you will need to raise your minimum pressure by 1cm to 12cm please.
