I'm very new to the CPAP world, but I was turned on to the idea of OSCAR by a buddy.
I'm most likely going to be cash-purchasing a ResMed 11 AirSense AutoSet. My insurance does not cover CPAP machine costs at all. I was diagnosed with OSA and do have a prescription.
My buddy told me the MyAir app that comes with the product is mostly trash, providing more of a high-altitude, low-granularity look at what is going on with my obstructive sleep apnea and its treatment via an APAP machine like the ResMed 11.
I can also be a bit of a private person, even though I'm very much an extrovert. I like some illusion of privacy, and therefore don't like the idea of MyAir regularly sending and receiving data to/from people who may or may not know what they're looking at, and possibly adjusting my settings on the fly (I'm not at all sure MyAir is capable of that, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it were.)
I'm much more interested in a low-level, high-granularity approach where I can post some of my OSCAR results here and get advice from real pros, the people who have been successfully dealing with and healing their own sleep apneas and other sleep disorders.
I do have a couple of questions, however:
1. Will using OSCAR void my manufacturer's warranty, and
2. Is the reference in the "OSCAR-Supported Machines" section of the WIKI regarding ResMed machines that "The following machines have been tested and are supported by OSCAR v1.3.0" simply not yet updated to reflect the new v1.4.0, and am I to make the presumption that "C/F conversion not yet implemented" refers to Celsius/Fahrenheit temperature?
Thanks much to you all for any advice, help and support!
