[News] Quiet Air: A Vent Upgrade For ResMed F20
#41
RE: Quiet Air: A Vent Upgrade For ResMed F20
I was at the DME Monday and the wife received a new mask/headgear F20. The RT said that the new elbow fitting is the only style they are receiving so it seems that the new quiet elbow replaced the older style and the older style is phased out. We talked about the restrictive breathing complaints and they now have had 2 complaints. Both complainants had other breathing issues on top of sleep apnea. She said it was 2 out of a couple hundred masks issued.

Thanks Jesse.
I don't notice any breathing differences in elbows FWIW. But IMO it's seriously lots quieter! Note this is only from a test 3 minutes.

I've been hoping that somebody would compare the elbows to the P10 vent – have they made it as quiet as the P10?

Unfortunate, I cannot comment on the P10 as I've never used them, but short or long, coffee breaks are great! Coffee

Yes. They're just as quiet.

Revisit after use last night, it does seem breathing was different, maybe a slight restriction. I'll have to report again tomorrow.

Something is off kilter. My AHI spiked. I'll report back on this...

I'm not trying to jinx you ScarcasticDave, but I'm curious about the new elbow. I wonder that there in fact is a difference with the elbow that causes an increased respiratory effort in some already experiencing pulmonary issues such as COPD. I've not compared the specs on the old and new elbows to be completely informed on the details. The little spark that caused my curiosity to rise was the RT asked me if I had heard of anyone having issues. The RT and me had this conversation on my last visit but she quickly dismissed the notion as it was still a relatively new product. Since she brought it up this time it lends me to believe that she may be a little suspicious of the new elbow now. At least it is on her mind because I'm usually the one who has the questions and does the interrogations.

I want to note that Resmed has experienced product variations in the recent past. Specifically, they ran a batch of headgear that was manufactured in a facility in Asia that was sized completely different from another facility that made the "same" headgear. The wife was issued a headgear that was entirely too large and beared no distinguishing size marks (F20 headgear). I'm not comparing the purple for her model with the universal headgear either. When laid side by side there was a huge difference between the universal headgears. Both headgears were from the same product number kits and, again, had no distinguishing marks for size difference.
