Night Guard use with CPAP
Good day
after my trip to the dentist yesterday she recommended to have a night guard as my teeth show signs of grinding and a cracked molar. I told her I use a CPAP every night and she said oh yeah no problem, then handed me a quote for $800.
Do others here have and use a night guard?
Do you use it on the top or bottom?

I use an upper and lower guard nightly, have done so for many years. I get mine from Amazon from Remi and get 2 upper and 2 lower for a very fair price. You make an impression of your teeth, send it in, and get the guards in a few weeks.

I'd recommend a lower night guard, which I use with no issues. I had an upper night guard at one point but it kept me from suctioning my tongue to the roof of my mouth, which made my tongue feel crowded and worsened my sleep (this was pre-CPAP). $800 seems pretty expensive, I got mine for around $450. You could try calling around and getting more quotes to see if you can get a lower price. I got a couple of them online over the years for around $175 each (making your own impressions at home) but the fit wasn't the greatest - I'd wake up with sore teeth, only be hitting on one side of the guard, etc. Like most everything else, you get what you pay for.

I have a lower night guard that I got from the dentist in August and haven't had any problems (except forgetting to put it in before taping my mouth :x )
The guard was $500 but it's supposed to last at least 18 mos. Given that I was chewing through OTC drugstore night guards at the rate of $30-40 a month, that seemed like a deal to me. I'm sure that the online providers that have been mentioned are just as good if you know what you want.
