NE Atlanta Area Sleep Specialist Recommendations?

NE Atlanta Area Sleep Specialist Recommendations?
HI - is anyone from Atlanta or the north side of Atlanta (Marietta or similar)?

Do you have a recommendation for a good sleep doctor you've used and you trust?

I was thinking of going to see Scott Leibowitz, anyone know anything about him?

Thanks
Rae

RE: NE Atlanta Area Sleep Specialist Recommendations?
I recently used an office that has been going through a name change over the past year. In order to stay "in network" with Kaiser, I had to use them. I can't say I really recommend them, but my outcome was good. I can get what I need from them. They haven't tried to strong arm overcharge me. They even sent a refund for an unneeded co-pay that I didn't catch.

I was able to get a copy of my sleep study and prescription. I shopped their equipment offer versus Supplier #1. I ordered from Supplier #1 and saved money while getting the machine and options I wanted.

They are not accustomed to patients that are proactive, informed or willing to study up quickly on the subject matter. The standard process is batch system. They bring in groups of patients to do education before your sleep study, and they have a group session followup. I was granted about 5 minutes total with Dr. Matin out of my 3-4 normal process visits. If you use them and are offered the chance to join a research study, DO IT! The research group is fantastic! I got 3 months of masks and a data capable CPAP free. I used that time to get my treatment under control and to learn as much as I could.

They used to be named Sleep Disorders Center of Georgia. The office is at: 5505 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd NE #380, Atlanta, GA. The were purchased by Northside Hospital and can now be found listed the main Northside website as Sleep Disorders Center.

Whoever you use, make sure to be proactive with them. Get your data. Use this board as part of your resources for learning how to make it work for you.

I too am going to the Sleep Disorder Center of GA and I feel like they are trying to overcharge me. I have a 20% copayment and I am still looking at close to $800 for a biPAP machine. Does this seem normal to anyone?

First, Welcome

Usually insurance companies won't buy the first machine. You have to lease it first to show compliance of use before a complete purchase is made. This lease can last as long as a year. If you were to buy a BiPAP out right from various dealers, the price you stated is about half the normal price.

At this point I think I'd play them game, but I would ask for a prescription for the unit and supplies, as well as, a copy of the sleep and titration studies. That way you're not locked in to insurance only supplies.

Good Luck!
