What helps me the most is to take 3 or 4 long, slow, deep breaths after I first put on the mask. After that, try (easier said than done) not to fight against the pressure. Try to breathe as normal as possible.
My A-Flex is set to 3. I tried the ramp the first few days, but like most others, I don't use it now.
One thing the respiratory therapist suggested yesterday was to set the ramp at minimum set pressure (ex. 7 in my case) and, when I wake up in the middle of the night, to hit the ramp button immediately so that it would return to the minimum pressure and help me get back to sleep quicker so the anxiety would be less likely to kick in.
