[CPAP] xirokx - Therapy Thread

To prevent dry mouth, it is better to increase the humidity than decrease the hose temperature because the inhaled air will be warmed up to 36 C, and the warmer air will pick up moisture from your body, leading to dryness.
Currently, I am setting the humidity to 7 and the tube temperature to 30C. I have some minor condensation with a heated hose and tube coat, but it is okay.

Thanks for that I didn't realise

So I'll increase humidity from 3 , keep tube temp at 26

What should I increase humidity to?

What happens if I get rainout? Increase tube temp or lower humidity but if it gets as low as  3 won't I need to increase tube temp?

Thanks

I set the hose temperature to 30 C and increased humidity until I got rainout.
You might want to start at 30C and humidity 5. If you have a rainout you cannot tolerate, you can tune it back to 4; if not, you can increase it to 6.

Is that not too many changes at once?

On Cpap mode does dry mouth become more an issue?

You can do it in smaller steps, but for moisture control, you should not be worried about the step size as long as the condensation is not drastic.
It is not the CPAP vs. APAP but the flow rate and leaks that impact dryness. You are now at a higher pressure and flow rate in CPAP than in the previous APAp, which is why your dry symptoms have worsened.

Thanks for explaining

May I clarify when I increase humidity from 3 to 5 and keep the tube temp at 26...if I get rain out tonight, shall I increase tube temp to counteract it? Is that correct?

And if are increasing if I still feel dry without rainout then just increase humidity from 5 onwards?

Just want to have a plan of action if things go down hill at 3am I have a plan...

Thanks

Set the humidity to 5 and the tube temperature to 27. If you have a rainout, increase the tube temperature by 1 C. If you still have rain, increase it again.
