Pop-up screen disappear

I often notice that when I want to manually override the Y-axis (typing, not using the arrows) of any graph the pop-up screen where you can set the scaling disappears while typing. Typically I have to give it several tries before I succeed. Would it be an idea to have the pop-up to remain unless clicked away? If people go there, it would mostly be for setting the scales. The reason for using typing, is that the arrows only impact "before the ." while I often want to manually adjust after the ".".

it only disappears for me if my mouse moves away from the window. what OS is he using?
