New to DreamStation Old CPAP user
Hi, I just got my new CPAP machine, a DreamStation autoCPAP, a day ago and used it last night for the first time with nasal pillows. It worked great for me. I found this site on Sleep Apnea and had no idea there was so much information available! A lot of it I haven't figured out yet re settings, AHI, etc. But will work on getting up to date.
I was orginally diagnosed with OSA in 2006 and had a REMstar set @ 8 with a facial nose mask.  I got used to it after several nights and have been using it since except for about a year when I lost a lot of weight and didn't snore anymore so thought i didn't need it any longer. I was under the mistaken impression (my own assumption) that my weight was a big factor in my sleep apnea. After I gained the weight back I had to start using it again. About a month ago the humidifier on my old CPAP malfunctioned and I had to do another sleep study to get a new one.  This time I was referred to a different doctor (sleep specialist) who comes to my small town a couple of times a month.  I was surprised to learn that I needed a higher pressure and thankful that I could get a new machine the next morning after the sleep study.  This time I will try to learn more and be more informed.
I appreciate this site and have learned a lot already! Thanks

Welcome to Apnea Board, JoGlo!

Glad you found us.  If you haven’t already, order your Clinicians Manual for your new machine.

Also, download the free #SleepyHead software.  This will help you learn more about what goes on while you are sleeping, plus it helps us to help you if you need it.  Smile
