Random nights of short sleep due to several days mounting to too much sleep?

Random nights of short sleep due to several days mounting to too much sleep?
So lately I see an odd pattern with how I sleep.  If I sleep really well for several days like 3 days, I'm too well rested that my sleep duration gets shorted considerably, like by half. And then that day I'm tired in the afternoon to night, and that causes me to sleep better the next night.

Is this normal, or is sleep quantity suppose to be consistent?

It seems like several night of normal sleep duration mounts to being too well rested that when I reach a maximum, the next night I wake up too early like I only half the duration of the other nights.  It's like my body doesn't want me to rest beyond a certain threshold of restfulness.

What do you guys think?  Does it happen to any of you?

Interesting. I seem to have the same experience. I sleep better during the week after work and don’t do as well on the weekends.

Hi, CorruptAlligator  I used to experience that before CPAP but haven't since I started CPAP and got the settings right.  So ,for me, I think this was related to sleep apnea, which made it hard for me sleep long enough unless I was extra tired.  Other factors, such as eliminating light in the morning, might have come into play, as well.

Of course, you could try setting your alarm a bit earlier and see if you can consistently sleep a bit less without feeling tired.  If so, that would be time saved for other things.
