RE: Recommended DMEs? Apria is awful
Unless you are willing to pay out-of-pocket, you are at the mercy of your insurance provider. However, your provider is likely to have an ombudsman that can run interference for you on specific issues. You can also demand the license number of the DME and send complaints to the state agency that issued the license. This only gets the attention of the DME. The best practice is to document your interactions with specific names, dates, times, and discussions. By personalizing transactions, you are likely to get better service -- do not hesitate to speak to a supervisor.

RE: Recommended DMEs? Apria is awful
Apparently there is a lot of variation between branches. I suspect many DMEs have issues at certain branches. We had good service from our local Apria branch. We had oxygen concentrators and oxygen tanks, as well as supplies for 4 years, including backup M tanks we carried in the RV for dry camping. We were kept well supplied with tubing and cannulas, and the concentrator was checked frequently and switched out when maintenance was due.
Hospice supplied the DME for the last several months. If the DME is not giving you acceptable service, fire them and get someone who will.

I used Apria for a few years myself. Once I'd gotten their local office number and could call them direct, it all worked ok.
