ResMed S11 Auto-Start inconsistent
I recently upgraded to an ResMed S11. It is set to “Auto-start” - putting on the mask and breathing in starts CPAP session.

This isn’t happening consistently and have woken up several times with the mask on correctly, plugged in but without the machine working.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Yes, me! You either have to turn smart start off, or leave it on, unmask and let it stop automatically when you take your pee break (or other), re-mask/click-in, and then slap the top button on the unit. So, yep, smart start doesn't seem to actually start: it only stops.

When my biPAP is on and pressurizing, it shows a jumpy bar graph, reflecting the pressure output. If that bar chart isn't showing when I hit HOME, the unit is not working, but does a kind of feeble intermittent spurt.

Turn auto start off. It has been reported a number times to be a problem. Just turn it off when you need and back on when you return.

It's odd that Resmed knew using Smart Start with an FFM caused problems back in the S9. The S9 would not allow you to select Smart Start if you were using an FFM. This seems to have been overlooked when the 10 series came out and carried through to the 11 series, too.

RE: ResMed S11 Auto-Start inconsistent
I’m almost 2 years in using the AS 11.  Only on occasion has the auto-start not work when I connected the hose from my F&P Evora to the hose connected to the work horse.  I don’t consider it a big deal.  If it was something that happened much for often, and I can’t resolve the issue by going through the manual and menus, then I’d stop in at the hospital sleep disorder center where I receive treatment and address the issue with a DME rep.
