Resmed Aircurve 10 Vauto Setting for Cpap
I was prescribed CPAP settings 4-9 with EPR 2.  Need to make sure I have this thing setup right as I'm not 100% sure my Dr's cpap department is doing it right.  Any help on the settings would be helpful.

EPAP 4cm PS 2 max IPAP 9cm would be the conversion.

RE: Resmed Aircurve 10 Vauto Setting for Cpap
Mentor, the settings suggested by Walla will work "better" than your doctor's recommendation. With EPR set at 2, an Airsense 10 Autoset would deliver pressures of 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 7/5, 8/6, 9/7 (IPAP/EPAP). As you can see, it takes an increase of over 2-cm from baseline to begin to drag the exhale pressure off 4.0-cm. Not a very effective way to setup auto cpap, and they should have set the minimum pressure at 6.0, if only they understood how it works.

With the Aircurve 10 Vauto, you can set mode to Vauto, EPAP min to 4.0, PS 2.0 and IPAP max 9, which delivers 6/4, 7/5, /8/6, 9/7. It is much more efficient. Anyway, Walla is correct and theses bilevel pressures will work better than the CPAP settings would have. Why are your pressure settings so low? Do you have sleep study or titration study results?

Don't hesitate to take EPAP min it up to 5 or 6 where you feel more comfortable and EPAP max to 11.0. You're not going to hurt yourself as long as you don't trigger a lot of central apnea. Download #Sleepyhead and your real needs will be revealed.
