Resmed s9 VPAP auto issue

Resmed s9 VPAP auto issue
I have a resmed 9 VPAP auto with ( as of today ) 988 total run hours. I purchased this machine second hand so I can not be certain of its history. I have an intermittent error that has come to happen twice in about 1 weeks time "humidifier malfunction replace humidifier". I have 2 different H5i humidifiers one that was accompanied with this machine, and one I had from a previous machine. I have received this error while using each humidifier. I have however slept about 5 nights without this error, 1 night on the humidifier that was sold with the machine and 4 on the one I already had. Might you have any ideas what the issue may be? I appreciate your help.
