S8 Escape II data cable help.
Hello community I'm in need of some big help! Long story short, I drive a semi and the time has come for my renewal of my DOT card. The company in which use to read my older model machine RESMED S8 Escape II has gone out of business. They was no letter sent informing of the decision the company had made. With that being said the cables and software to read my machine were discarded. There is now a new company that took over and but cant read my machine due to the model and lack of equipment. I've tried to search online to locate the cable but it seems to be discontinued or out of stock. I'm looking at being out of work for a while if I'm unable to get my machine read. I've search the forum for older post related to my machine and all the information is either dead links or out of stock items. I now have a new machine but it will take four months to get a valid reading for my DOT and I wish not to stay out of work that long. If anyone knows of a used cable/software or were I might be able to purchase one that's in stock please let me know. Once again it is a RESMED S8 Escape II the the data card attached to the machine itself. There is no removable card which make the search so hard to find this cable. I will try and upload pictures if i can as well. Thanks!

RE: S8 Escape II data cable help.
Hi mark miller! -
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you didn't find the required module and cable on eBay, then you are out of luck. Your model was replaced by the S9 in 2010. In medical device years, that is a relic. Currently, the latest Resmed CPAP model is an AS11. I would suggest looking for a good used S9 or AS10 Autoset. EDIT: I just did a search of the complete U.S. for the S8 card reader that included, DotMed, eBay, Amazon, Craigslist, and Facebook Marketplace. Sorry, No Joy! - Red

Yes, that's the luck I've been having unfortunately. It was a shot in the dark to see if maybe someone might have an old used one on the forum.

RE: S8 Escape II data cable help.
Mark, not sure of the time-frame for your DOT requirements, but since your occupation requires your sleep apnea to be treated (documented via data) you really need to get a newer machine that is data-capable and has an SD card slot. In addition, it's quite possible that your S8 Escape II machine will fail in the near future, assuming you've been using it for over 5 years. Five years of continued use is generally the average lifespan of a CPAP machine.
For more info on which machines are best, go here: https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph...ne_choices If you have time, get a machine now and use it for 30 days to show your compliance for DOT. I wouldn't mess around with trying to get a cable for your old machine. Instead, I'd immediately concentrate on getting a newer machine that you'll be able to use for DOT requirements now and into the future. To order a newer CPAP from an online supplier, you'll first need to get a copy of your prescription from your sleep doctor. By law, they must give you a copy if you request it. Once you have it, keep a copy for your records, and if necessary, scan it so you'll have a copy to send to any potential online supplier. Some online suppliers are lax in their asking for a prescription. Supplier #2 sells gently used machines and many report that they don't ask for a prescription. Just some thoughts. Good luck!
