SD card will not eject MacBook

SD card will not eject MacBook
This may come under "other," topics but I will post here for advice if okay, if not I will move to the "off topic," category of the site.

The past three days, after checking my OSCAR daily, I do the usual File > Eject but the drive icon remains on the screen, SD card not ejected.  After several eject tries a window appears asking if I would like to "Force Eject," the SD card.  I Force Ejected it.  A notice was give that his may damage the SD data.

Today, the SD card was recognized and dowloaded data to OSCAR as usual.  Again, it would not eject.  I opened the SD in Finder to see if I could eject it from there and could not.  I returned to the desktop to find the SD card icon now gone as if it had ejected.

This is new after hundreds of times connecting the SD card via an adapter that connects to an USB C port on the MacBook Air.  Perhaps the adapter is going bad, or maybe for the first time the Eject function takes much longer? It usually instant.

Advice is appreciated and please move this post to another section of the site if inappropriate here.

RE: SD card will not eject MacBook
I'm not a current Mac user, and if one comes along they will probably want to know which MacBook you have and which version of MacOS you are using. -- and if you recently upgraded the OS.

It occurs to me that a recent change to the OS may require that the SD card be released by the programm before it can be ejected. If we learn how to to that, we will add it after the sd card import finished. In the meanwhile, you could try closing OSCAR before you try to eject the SD card. Please report back here if you find a solution.!

RE: SD card will not eject MacBook
You are correct..have OSCAR and apps closed before eject of SD card.  All better now.  MacBook Air M2, Sonoma.

RE: SD card will not eject MacBook
I noticed exactly same issue recently. Mac tells me I cannot eject because SD card is in use, even after OSCAR is closed.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), macOS ver 12.7.1
